8.1/8.2 Notes - Graphing Exponential Growth and Decay

Exponential functions can model growth or decay. Growth occurs when the base is greater than 1, decay when the base is between 0 and 1. Graphs of exponential growth increase rapidly moving right, with a positive y-intercept and domain/range of all real numbers. Graphs of exponential decay decrease rapidly moving right, with a positive y-intercept and the same domain/range. Examples demonstrate graphing and identifying exponential growth and decay functions, as well as transformations that change the graph's shape, location or both.
