The Law Society of Ontario (“LSO”) regularly livestreams LSO events and takes photographs, audio and video recordings, and creates other forms of content during LSO events (“Event Content”). The LSO creates Event Content to provide simultaneous and subsequent webcasts of LSO events, to document LSO events, and to promote future LSO events. By actively participating in an LSO event, you consent to your image, if made visible, and any oral and written statements made during the event, to be captured, recorded, preserved, published, transmitted, broadcast, edited, and published by the LSO as Event Content, in whole or in part, in all media throughout the world.
In accordance with the purposes and uses described above, by participating in an LSO event, you irrevocably grant, assign to, and waive in favour of, the LSO any rights and permissions you might have in respect of Event Content. You release the LSO and its assigns, licensees, and successors, from any claims relating to, or in connection with, its use of Event Content, whether foreseen or unforeseen, known or unknown, including, without limitation, any claims for negligence, libel, defamation, and any right to publicity or privacy.
LSO events involve diverse subjects and speakers. A speaker’s views are their own, and their inclusion is not an endorsement by the LSO of their opinions. Information presented during LSO events is not legal advice and the LSO is not responsible for the quality or accuracy of the content, or for any loss or damages that may result from attendees’ reliance on it.
