Hi there, Here is a program to input 5 floats and output them to the screen, using = loops. oh i am using the bloodshed compiler. #include <iostream> #include <iomanip> #include <conio.h> using std::cout; using std::cin; using std::endl; #define MAX 5 int main() { float number[MAX]; int x; cout << " A program to enter and display 5 floating point numbers " << = endl << endl; for (x=3D0;x<MAX; x++) { cout << " Enter number:" << x+1 << endl; cin >> number[x]; } cout <<"Press any key to show your numbers" << endl << endl << endl; getche(); x=3D0; for (x=3D0;x<MAX;x++) { cout <<"float number:"<< x+1 <<" is"; cout.width(10); cout << setprecision(2) << setiosflags(ios::fixed | = ios::showpoint); cout << number[x]; cout << endl << endl << endl; } cout <<"Press any key to Exit The Program" << endl; getche(); return(0); } |

Hello there,=20 The following code based on yours outputs the five floats, column width = can be any integer number you want. I also initialised the variables, = one of the reasons you had no output was that you did not tell the print = statement to output the variable number1 etc. although i think an = earlier correspondent noticed this. The numbers line up ok, although the = text"number1" and the actual value of the variable number1 are on = different lines, there are ways round this but not without changing the = code considerably. You would be better off looping this program anyway = both for input and output. #include <iostream> #include <iomanip> #include <conio.h> using std::cout; using std::cin; using std::endl; float number; int main() { float number1=3D0, number2=3D0, number3=3D0, number4=3D0, number5=3D0; cout << " Enter 5 floating point numbers " << endl; cin >> number1 ; cin >> number2 ; cin >> number3 ; cin >> number4 ; cin >> number5 ; cout << " The floating point numbers you entered are " << endl; cout << " number 1 is " <<endl; cout.width(30); cout << setprecision(2) << setiosflags(ios::fixed | ios::showpoint)<< = number1 <<endl; cout << " number 2 is " <<endl; cout.width(30); cout << setprecision(2) << setiosflags(ios::fixed | ios::showpoint)<< = number2 <<endl; cout << " number 3 is "<<endl; cout.width(30); cout << setprecision(2) << setiosflags(ios::fixed | ios::showpoint)<< = number3 <<endl; cout << " number 4 is "<<endl; cout.width(30); cout << setprecision(2) << setiosflags(ios::fixed | ios::showpoint)<< = number4 <<endl; cout << " number 5 is "<<endl; cout.width(30); cout << setprecision(2) << setiosflags(ios::fixed | ios::showpoint)<< = number5 <<endl; cout << "Here are the five floats you wanted" <<endl; cout <<endl <<endl <<endl; cout << "Strike any key to exit program" <<endl; getche(); return 0; } =20 |

Hello all I've recently come across a program called "doc++", it is able of reading a C/C++ source file (or a list of source files), using ordinary comments or special ones to document the code. The output is generally HTML pages. It seems simple and quick. I would like to know if anybody out there is using the tool and what you think about it. thanks -- gisan gi...@li... |

AFAICT that syntax error is because you haven't included the header = needed for the pair template class. It doesn't actualy output any of the numbers, i.e. cout << " number 1 is " << setprecision(2) << setiosflags(ios::fixed | ios::showpoint) << number1 << endl; Another thing is that there are other ways of doing what you are doing = which you may want to look up. I'm pretty sure there is a way to just = set the precision and iosflags once and then it will use that for all = output. Also by using for loops and an array of floats you can cut down = on typing. It's not so bad for 5 floats, but imagine that you wanted to = do 20. Just a few thoughts for you. I found a great refrence and i just thought id share it with you. A = system wide hook is a great little thing that allows you to take = controll of all applications in windows! So you can add an extra button = to every window (next to the minimize button for example- there is a = demo of this in one of the links on the page). You can also hack progs = with it! I once downloaded a program that listens for the time event in = minesweeper giving you a perfect score! http://www.cpp.atfreeweb.com/Hooks.html |

First you need to include stdlib.h next you need to call the function srand() to initialize the random number generator If the number you use is the same the same sequence of random numbers is generated, because of this it is normal to use the time function to initialize the generator as the time is constantly changing e.g. srand(time(NULL)); N.B. You need to include time.h to get the time function. next you want to call the rand function to get your random number N.B. the rand function returns a random number between 0 and RAND_MAX usually you wish a number within a certain range the following formula should help you. lower_bound + rand() % (upper_bound - lower_bound + 1) eg. To get a random number between 1 and 10 (inclusive) the following should sufice 1 + rand() % (10 - 1 + 1); |

In C: #include <stdlib.h> #include <time.h> ... int r; srand(time(NULL)); ... /* One random number from 0 to RAND_MAX (which can't be larger than 32767 */ r=rand(); ... /* Another random number */ r=rand(); Using RAND_MAX you can get any range you want in a portable way! Finally I have found three different ways to implement the reading of a key without pressing RETURN. I report them if it can be of help for somebody. It works finely on my platform, but as it has been discussed in the last days, it is not sure that it runs well on other installations of Dev-C++. Ricardo. ******************************************* #include <iostream> #include <conio_mingw.h> int main() { cout << "Enter any key." << endl; getch(); //reads a char without return and without echo cout << "Enter another key" << endl; getche(); // reads a char without return and with echo cout << "\n End is coming...Press a key" << endl; while(!kbhit()) ; // waits until you press a key return(0); } ******************************************** |

I posted a question about using inline assembly in my program Unfortunately I did not get an answer that worked. I searched the internet and I found a tutorial that should help whoever else it was that was asking similar questions it is located here http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Ridge/2544/cprog/rmiyagi-inline-asm.txt |

So buy a book for Win32 API. You can also add other external API libraries. Win32 API is supported by all Windows compilers (Visual C++, Borland C++ Builder, e.t.c.).
