Nothing wrong with the source, except that you have used some very starnge characters for indentation. White space may only be space, tab, horizontal tap, carriage return and line feed. If you open the source in the really stupid program edit, the strange characters will be clearly visible. /Per W On Thu, 19 Oct 2006 k.a...@at... wrote: > Can someone please help me. Can someone please help me. I ran this program a couple of times in my compiler Dev C++ several times and I keep getting errors but I can't find the errors. I am new to C++ and I am a teacher trying to teach my students game design. I have listed the source codes that I am using. // Game Stats // Demonstrates declaring and initializing variables #include <iostream> using namespace std; int main() { int score; double distance; char playAgain; bool shieldsUp; short lives, aliensKilled; score = 0; distance = 1200.76; playAgain='y'; shieldsUp= true; lives =3; aliensKilled = 10; double engineTemp = 6572.89; cout << "\nscore:" << score << endl; cout <<"distance: " <<distance<< endl; cout <<"playAgain:" <<playAgain << endl; //skipping shieldsUp since you don't generally print Boolean values cout<<"lives:" <<lives <<endl; cout <<"aliensKilled: " <<aliensKilled << endl; cout << " engineTemp:" <<engineTemp << endl; int fuel; cout << "\nHow much fuel?"; cin >> fuel; cout<<"fuel:" << fuel << endl; typedef unsigned short int ushort; ushort bonus = 10; cout << "\nbonus:" << bonus << endl; system ("PAUSE"); return 0; } Kathy Elia- k.a...@wo... |

I am a self taught programmer who has been uing C for a few years for little home applications. I am learning C++ and was wondering how to add other compilers and text editors to the DevC++ IDE. Thanks -Dug --------------------------------- Get your email and more, right on the new Yahoo.com |

That is one of the reasons why you may download the Dev-C++ environment without the compiler - you might already have a different version of MinGW. The only disadvantage of using a different version of gcc, is that you can't use any precompiled c++ libraries. The compiler regularly changes name mangling, and internal memory layout of generated c++ code. Since I normally retrieve source and build the needed C++ libraries myself, this isn't too much of a problem. /Per W On Wed, 18 Oct 2006, Hossein Haeri wrote: > Dear all, > > OK, with the aids of some of you, I realised that this list is still alive.
