Unless you select a framework containing this function, you will have to implement it yourself. Basically, you should draw the same information to a displayable device context as you would draw when outputting the actual print. The only difference is that the resolution of the display context (your preview) is lower than the resolution of the actual printer. /pwm On Mon, 30 Mar 2009, Frederico Marques wrote: > > > Hello. > > > I am developing a small program that should print some text and images to a specified printer. > I can't seem to find the Windows API that I can use to display the output to the user... Hello. I am developing a small program that should print some text and images to a specified printer. I can't seem to find the Windows API that I can use to display the output to the user... Like a "preview". Imagine a bmp, and 2 string... I can, by the printers API, position and scale both. I don't know, however, how to display the result to the screen. I don't know how I can display the job to the user before it is printer... Please, keep in mind that my Windowing is basic... receiving message and processing ;) Thank you for your time Frederico Marques _________________________________________________________________ Cansado de espaço para só 50 fotos? Hello. I work on Windows XP and I am trying run a program "c" compiled under DEP-C++ 4.9.9.2, to access POSTGRESQL 8.3.7. The program is compiled/linked OK, but don't work. Anyone can help me? You can write the code as follows: char question = 'y' // small y int number; while ( question == 'y' ) { cout << "Enter a number to be squared: "; cin >> number; cout << "Square of " << number << " is " << number * number << endl; cout << "Do you want to enter another number ? Type ( y/n): "; // n or any char will come out of while loop cin >> question; } |

To obtain a working while loop just type the following in that part of your program char again; // without intializing it.. while ( again != 'n' ) { cout << "Do you Want to play again(y/n)?:"; cin >> again; } hope that will work nealy the way you want it to!.. woofer |

while (again='y') instead of while (again=='y') You make an assignment instead of a comparison. Have another look at this line : while (again='y') Think about comparison as opposed to assignment. From: Chedtha Intaravitak [mailto:che...@gm...] Sent: 27 March 2009 10:45 To: dev...@li... Subject: [Dev-C++] problem with "while" loop Hi I had a problem running an attached C++ source code. It's a very simple program demonstrating how to use a while loop. The program compiled and run o.k. But it didn't seem to change the value of a variable "again" (from user input "cin" command) so the program keep repeating the while loop. The initialized value of the variable is 'y' but then when I input 'n' to change its value, the program didn't seem to change its value to 'n'. What am I missing? thanks Chedtha This email was sent from an email account of BMW (UK) Manufacturing Limited. Note that C and C++ don't have strings as a native data type. Note that C++ also has a class named string, but that is not a native data type but a standardized class. If you write: char name1[] = "Hello"; You will get a character array containing the characters 'H', 'e', 'l', 'l', 'o', '\0', where the last character is a terminator. All strings in C are zero-terminated. If you write: char name2[] = {'H', 'e', 'l', 'l', 'o'}; You do not have this terminating zero. If you do: printf("This is a string: %s\n",name1); you will get an expected printout. If you do: printf("This is a string: %s\n",name2); You will get zero or more random characters after the 'o', since printf() will continue to print characters until a zero is found in the memory. The same thing happens if you use cout << name1 contra cout << name2; If you do want to create the string in character-by-character form, you should instead write: char name3[] = {'H', 'e', 'l', 'l', 'o', '\0'}; This is identical to the name1 alternative, and will print correctly. Another thing: Since C and C++ don't have a native string datatype, a string is an array of characters. And an array and a pointer is just about identical. This means that the cout function will assume that any pointer to a character (either an array name, or the address of a single character in the array or a character pointer or a string "Hello" will all match the same output rule, i.e. to print out a zero-terminated array of characters. Note that many compilers will warn if you take the address of an array, since that normally means that the developer have make an error. The array name is always a pointer, and &name may look like a pointer to a pointer to a character but since name is an array, you can't "move" it by assigning to this dual-indirection pointer. Hence the warning about conceptual error. /pwm On Mon, 23 Mar 2009, JYL wrote: > Hi, everyone > > I have a question about pointer in C++, below is my source code and > question, if anyone can answer my question, I will very appreciate, thanks a > lot > > > > //source code and question start here > > > > #include <iostream> > > #include <cstdlib> > > using namespace std; > > int main(void) > > { > > int num[]={11,22,33,44,55}; > > char name[6]={'j','i','a','n','y','i'}; > > char *ptr="How are you?"; > > > > > > cout << "int num[]={11,22,33,44,55}" << endl; > > cout << "num=" << num << endl; > > cout << "&num=" << &num << endl; > > cout << "*num=" << *num << endl; > > > > cout<< endl << "char name[6]={'j','i','a','n','y','i'};" << endl; > > cout << "name=" << name << endl; > > /*here, > > question 1: why output name is all of the array content, > > not the address as same as output of &name?? > > the array name is a pointer, doesn't the content of array name is the > same as the address of array name > > > > question 2: why there is a random character after > > output of i?? > > > > */ > > cout << "&name=" << &name << endl; > > cout << "*name=" << *name << endl; > > > > cout << endl << "char *ptr=\"How are you?\";" << endl; > > cout << "ptr=" << ptr << endl; > > /* here, the same of question 1*/ > > cout << "&ptr=" << &ptr << endl; > > cout << "*ptr=" << *ptr << endl; > > > > ptr=ptr+1; > > cout << endl << "ptr=ptr+1;" << endl; > > cout << "ptr=" << ptr << endl; > > cout << "&ptr=" << &ptr << endl; > > /* here, why the address of ptr doesn't change??*/ > > cout << "*ptr=" << *ptr << endl; > > > > system("pause"); > > return 0; > > } > > |

Hi guys, Can we override template functions? I have a template function like template <typename IntegerType> bool decodeField (IntegerType& dest, int fieldId) { // Get the field offset, do some processing and return the result in 'dest' template variable. } The above function handles different integer types like uint_8, uint_16, uint_32, uint_64, int_8, int_16, int_32, int_64. I want to make the above function virtual and would like to override this function in the derived class with a slightly different functionality. As far I can see in google, both 'virtual' and template function cannot exist together. The recommendation is to provide a another virtual function and call that function from the template function. But my worry is that how do we pass the template argument to the other virtual function. Any idea on how to achieve this functionality? Regards, Ravi. Add more friends to your messenger and enjoy! So, after a day of experimenting, I found out how to write a function allowing me to double pennies. Like in that old saying would you rather have a million dollars or a penny doubled every day for a month? I would like to know if anyone could suggest a better/ more efficient way to accomplish what the program does. I will work on using the loop in the function itself so as not to call the pdt function every time, but for a newbie I wouldn't mind suggestions at this point. Thanks, 42 #include <cmath> #include <iostream> #include <string> using namespace std; string next; int pdt(int); int prevd; double long long prevt = 1; int main(void) { do { prevd = 1; cout << "How many days?" ; int number; cin >> number; cout << "For being good the tooth fairy doubles your pennies \n"; for (int y=1;y!=number;++y) { cout << "after " << y << " nights, you wake to find "; cout << pdt(prevd) << " pennies for a total of "; prevt += prevd; cout << "$" << prevt/100 << "\n" ; } prevt=1; cout << "Again?"; cin >> next;} while (next != "no"); } int pdt(int temp ) { prevd = temp * 2; return prevd; } |

I am trying to run the sample program "photographer.c" (available at http://libexif.cvs.sourceforge.net/viewvc/libexif/libexif/contrib/examples/) in Dev-Cpp. I have downloaded all of the libexif library files (exif-data.h, exif-data.c, et. al..) into a /libexif subdirectory of the "include" subdirectory of Dev-Cpp: C:/Dev-Cpp/include/libexif Here is the first few lines of the program "photographer.c": ********************************************************************* /* * libexif example program to display the contents of a number of specific * EXIF and MakerNote tags. The tags selected are those that may aid in * identification of the photographer who took the image. * * Placed into the public domain by Dan Fandrich */ #include <stdio.h> #include <string.h> #include <libexif/exif-data.h> Etc.. When I compile this program, I get a set of linker errors, as follows: [linker error] undefined reference to 'exif_content_get_entry' [linker error] undefined reference to 'exif_entry_get_value' [linker error] undefined reference to 'exif_mnote_data_count' . .. [linker error] undefined reference to 'exif_data_new_from_file' There is a linker error of this type for each function that I am calling from the 'libexif' library of functions. Is there something I have to do to the library files (each is written in pure C) in order that they will be seen by the linker? I have tried moving the \libexif directory to various locations within the Dev-Cpp directory, but that does nothing. Thanks, ewoozle |

Dear developers, I was facing a hard problem to solve this day. I have a function called "acentosil.h", which attributes graphical stress to words in Brazilian Portuguese. The problem was: Anytime I changed this function, be using the file alone or within dev-cpp and saving, the changes seemed not to work at all. I even thought the problem was my computer. I changed computer and even operating system from XP to Vista and got the same problem. The way I solved the problem was using WRONG in the program include "acentosil2.h". Of course the program gave me an error. Then I change to "acentosil.h". Only now the changes worked fine. Is this a bug? Another thing: When I used the debugger, instead of going into the "if, for, while", etc, it went to parts inside this conditions and even to blank spaces. Is this right? 1) array is a private variable inside main(). If you want this array of poinster to be initialized by a function call to tokenizar, then you must send the array as a parameter, together with the information that it can hold at most 50 words. And you must also let the function tokenizar return the number of words it found, so you know how many words to print. But another thing. Do not ever (!) use gets() to read a string. Always use fgets(). The reason is that gets() does not take the maximum size of the input buffer as parameter, so if the input sentence is larger than 49 characters, you will get a buffer overrun. If you use fgets(), it will end the input when the buffer is full. You can then check if there is a '\n' (newline character) in the string, or if the input string was too long. /pwm On Thu, 5 Mar 2009, Alexsandro Meireles wrote: > Dear all, > > I have build a function to tokenize a sentence and to return the words in my > main function. You've just mixed in too much test code with the production stuff! As given, the tokenizar function works fine. However combine it with the main program given and the problem is that array[] in the main program is not initialised. Trying to dereference uninitialised pointers (in the printf) doesn't usually mean that good things happen! You have a general problem with tokenizar in that there is no way to get the tokens back to the main program. You might want to add another parameter or two, i.e. make the signature void tokenizar(char *palavra, char* array[], unsigned int size_of_array) Now you can pass in the token array and get results back.
