Open-string T-duality and applications to non-geometric backgrounds / Cordonier-Tello, Fabrizio (Munich U.) ; Lust, Dieter (Munich U. ; Munich, Max Planck Inst. ; CERN) ; Plauschinn, Erik (Munich U.)
We revisit T-duality transformations for the open string via Buscher's procedure and work-out technical details which have been missing so far in the literature. We take into account non-trivial topologies of the world-sheet, we consider T-duality along directions with Neumann as well as Dirichlet boundary conditions, and we include collective T-duality along multiple directions. On the Ghost Problem of Conformal Gravity / Hell, Anamaria (Munich U., ASC) ; Lust, Dieter (Munich U., ASC ; Munich, Max Planck Inst.) ; Zoupanos, George (CERN ; Heidelberg U.)
We study the metric perturbations around the de Sitter and Minkowski backgrounds in Conformal Gravity. We confirm the presence of ghosts in both cases. [...]

2d orbifolds with exotic supersymmetry / Florakis, Ioannis (Paris, LPTHE) ; García-Etxebarria, Iñaki (Munich, Max Planck Inst.) ; Lust, Dieter (Munich, Max Planck Inst. ; Munich U., ASC) ; Regalado, Diego (CERN)
We analyse various two dimensional theories arising from compactification of type II and heterotic string theory on asymmetric orbifolds. We find extra supersymmetry generators arising from twisted sectors, giving rise to exotic supersymmetry algebras. [...]

Generalized Metric Formulation of Double Field Theory on Group Manifolds / Blumenhagen, Ralph (Munich, Max Planck Inst.) ; du Bosque, Pascal (Munich U., ASC) ; Hassler, Falk (Munich, Max Planck Inst. ; Munich U., ASC) ; Lust, Dieter (Munich, Max Planck Inst. ; Munich U., ASC ; CERN)
We rewrite the recently derived cubic action of Double Field Theory on group manifolds [arXiv:1410.6374] in terms of a generalized metric and extrapolate it to all orders in the fields. For the resulting action, we derive the field equations and state them in terms of a generalized curvature scalar and a generalized Ricci tensor. [...]

On the degrees of freedom of R$^{2}$ gravity in flat spacetime / Hell, Anamaria (Tokyo U., IPMU) ; Lust, Dieter (Munich U. ; Munich, Max Planck Inst.) ; Zoupanos, George (Munich, Max Planck Inst. ; Natl. Tech. U., Athens ; CERN ; Heidelberg U.)
We study the degrees of freedom of $R^2$ gravity in flat spacetime with two approaches. By rewriting the theory a la Stueckelberg, and implementing Lorentz-like gauges to the metric perturbations, we confirm that the pure theory propagates one scalar degree of freedom, while the full theory contains two tensor modes in addition. Entanglement entropy through conformal interfaces in the 2D Ising model / Brehm, Enrico M. (Munich U., ASC) ; Brunner, Ilka (CERN)
We consider the entanglement entropy for the 2D Ising model at the conformal fixed point in the presence of interfaces. More precisely, we investigate the situation where the two subsystems are separated by a defect line that preserves conformal invariance. [...]

(Virginia Tech.) ; Gerdes, Mathis (Munich U., ASC) ; Gray, James (Virginia Tech.) ; Krippendorf, Sven (Munich U., ASC) ; Raghuram, Nikhil (Virginia Tech.) ; Ruehle, Fabian (CERN ; Oxford U., Theor. We use machine learning to approximate Calabi-Yau and SU(3)-structure metrics, including for the first time complex structure moduli dependence. Our new methods furthermore improve existing numerical approximations in terms of accuracy and speed [...]

Single Photon Production at Hadron Colliders at NNLO QCD with Realistic Photon Isolation / Chen, X. (KIT, Karlsruhe, TP ; KIT, Karlsruhe, IAP) ; Gehrmann, T. (Zurich U.) ; Glover, E.W.N. (Durham U., IPPP) ; Höfer, M. (Munich U., ASC) ; Huss, A. (CERN) ; Schürmann, R. (Zurich U.)
Isolated photons at hadron colliders are defined by permitting only a limited amount of hadronic energy inside a fixed-size cone around the candidate photon direction. This isolation criterion admits contributions from collinear photon radiation off QCD partons and from parton-to-photon fragmentation processes. [...]

Aspects of Weyl Supergravity / Ferrara, Sergio (CERN ; Frascati ; UCLA) ; Kehagias, Alex (Natl. Tech. U., Athens) ; Lüst, Dieter (CERN ; Munich U., ASC ; Munich, Max Planck Inst.)
In this paper we study the spectrum of all conformal, ${\cal N}$-extended supergravities (${\cal N}=1,2,3,4$) in four space-time dimensions. When these theories are obtained as massless limit of Einstein plus Weyl$^2$supergravity, the appropriate counting of the enhanced gauge symmetries allow us to derive the massless spectrum which consist of a dipole ghost graviton multiplet, a ${\cal N}$-fold tripole ghost gravitino, the third state belonging to a spin 3/2 multiplet and a residual vector multiplet present for non-maximal ${\cal N}<4$ theories.
