Spain Industrial Output Growth Misses Forecast
Spain's industrial output rose by 0.6% year-on-year in June 2024, following a 0.4% increase in the prior month but missing forecasts of a 1% advance. This marks the third consecutive month of mild growth in Spanish industrial activity. Output increased for consumer goods by 2.5%, maintaining the same pace as in May, and for intermediate goods by 1.6%, slightly up from 1.5% in the previous month. However, energy production stalled after a 1.5% rise in May. In contrast, output for capital goods declined sharply, dropping by 3% compared to a 0.9% decrease in the prior month. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial production rose by 0.3% in June, after a 0.1% fall in the prior month.
