Particle production in central Pb + Pb collisions at 158 AGeV/c / NA44 Collaboration
The NA44 experiment has measured single-particle inclusive spectra for charged pions, kaons, and protons as a function of transverse mass near midrapidity in 158A GeV/c Pb+Pb collisions. From the particle mass dependence of the observed m/sub T/ distributions, we are able to deduce a value of about 120 MeV for the temperature at thermal freeze-out. [...]

Hadron distributions : recent results from the CERN experiment NA44 / Bearden, I G ; Bøggild, H ; Boissevain, J G ; Dodd, J ; Erazmus, B ; Esumi, S C ; Fabjan, Christian Wolfgang ; Ferenc, D ; Fields, D E ; Franz, A et al.
Proton distributions at midrapidity have been measured for 158A $\cdot$ GeV Pb + Pb collisions in the focusing spectrometer experiment NA44 at CERN. A high degree of nuclear stopping is found in the truly heavy ion collisions. [...]

Dynamics and Sizes of the Fireball at Freeze-out / Tomasik, Boris (Regensburg U.) ; Wiedemann, Urs Achim (Columbia U.) ; Heinz, Ulrich W. (CERN)
Analyzing the m_t-spectrum and two-particle correlations of negative hadrons from 158 AGeV/c Pb+Pb collisions at slightly forward rapidities we find a (thermal) freeze-out temperature of about 100 MeV and transverse flow with approximately 0.55c. The M_t-dependence of the correlation radii prefers a box-like transverse density profile over a Gaussian. [...]

The universal freeze-out criterion at SPS and RHIC / Tomasik, Boris (CERN) ; Wiedemann, Urs Achim (CERN)
We formulate a freeze-out criterion for ultra-relativistic heavy ion collisions in terms of the pion escape probability from the collision region. We find that the increase in pion phase-space density from SPS to RHIC reported at this conference has a small influence on particle freeze-out because of the small pi-pi cross-section. [...]

NA49 Results on Single Particle and Correlation Measurements in Central Pb+Pb Collisions / NA49 Collaboration
Single-particle spectra and two-particle correlation functions measured by the NA49 collaboration in central Pb+Pb collisions at 158 GeV/nucleon are presented. These measurements are used to study the kinetic and chemical freeze-out conditions in heavy ion collisions. [...]

Hadronic Expansion Dynamics in Central Pb+Pb Collisions at 158 GeV per Nucleon / NA49 Collaboration
Two-particle correlation functions of negative hadrons over wide phase space, and transverse mass spectra of negative hadrons and deuterons near mid-rapidity have been measured in central Pb+Pb collisions at 158 GeV per nucleon by the NA49 experiment at the CERN SPS. A novel Coulomb correction procedure for the negative two-particle correlations is employed making use of the measured oppositely charged particle correlation. [...]

Bose-Einstein Correlations of Charged Kaons in Central Pb+Pb Collisions at $E_{beam} = 158 AGeV$ / NA49 Collaboration
Bose-Einstein correlations of charged kaons were measured near mid-rapidity in central Pb+Pb collisions at 158 A$\cdot$GeV by the NA49 experiment at the CERN SPS. Source radii were extracted using the Yano-Koonin-Podgoretsky and Bertsch-Pratt parameterizations [...]

Reconstructing the Freeze-out State in Pb + Pb Collisions at 158 AGeV/c / Tomasik, Boris (Regensburg U.) ; Wiedemann, Urs Achim (Columbia U.) ; Heinz, Ulrich W. (CERN)
For a class of analytical parametrizations of the freeze-out state of relativistic heavy ion collisions, we perform a simultaneous analysis of the single-particle m_t-spectra and two-particle Bose-Einstein correlations measured in central Pb+Pb collisions at the CERN SPS. The analysis includes a full model parameter scan with chi^2 confidence levels. [...]

One-, Two- and Three-Particle Distributions from 158 A GeV/c Central Pb+Pb Collisions / WA98 Collaboration
Several hadronic observables have been studied in central 158 A GeV Pb+Pb collisions using data measured by the WA98 experiment at CERN: single negative pion and kaon production, as well as two- and three-pion interferometry. The Wiedemann-Heinz hydrodynamical model has been fitted to the pion spectrum, giving an estimate of the temperature and transverse flow velocity. [...]

Elliptic flow of charged pions, protons and strange particles emitted in Pb+Au collisions at top SPS energy / CERES Collaboration
Differential elliptic flow spectra v2(pT) of \pi-, K0short, p, \Lambda were measured at \sqrt(s NN)= 17.3 GeV around midrapidity by the CERN-CERES/NA45 experiment in mid-central Pb+Au collisions (10% of \sigma(geo)). The pT range extends from about 0.1 GeV/c (0.55 GeV/c for \Lambda ) to more than 2 GeV/c. [...]
