M-theory on Calabi-Yau Five-Folds / Haupt, Alexander S (Imperial Coll., London ; Potsdam, Max Planck Inst.) ; Lukas, Andre (Oxford U., Theor. Phys.) ; Stelle, K S (Imperial Coll., London ; Potsdam, Max Planck Inst. ; CERN)
We study the compactification of M-theory on Calabi-Yau five-folds and the resulting N=2 super-mechanics theories. By explicit reduction from 11 dimensions, including both bosonic and fermionic terms, we calculate the one-dimensional effective action and show that it can be derived from an N=2 super-space action. M-theory on a Calabi-Yau manifold / Ferrara, Sergio ; Khuri, R R ; Minasian, R
We compactify M-theory on a Calabi-Yau manifold to five dimensions by wrapping the membrane and fivebrane solitons of the eleven-dimensional supergravity limit around Calabi-Yau two-cycles and four-cycles respectively. We identify the perturbative and non-perturbative BPS states thus obtained with those of heterotic string theory compactified on K3\times S^1. [...]

M Theory on the Stiefel manifold and 3d Conformal Field Theories / Ceresole, Anna (CERN ; INFN, Turin) ; Dall'Agata, G. (Turin U. ; INFN, Turin) ; D'Auria, R. (CERN ; INFN, Turin) ; Ferrara, S. (CERN)
We compute the mass and multiplet spectrum of M theory compactified on the product of AdS(4) spacetime by the Stiefel manifold V(5,2)=SO(5)/SO(3), and we use this information to deduce via the AdS/CFT map the primary operator content of the boundary N=2 conformal field theory. We make an attempt for a candidate supersymmetric gauge theory that, at strong coupling, should be related to parallel M2-branes on the singular point of the non-compact Calabi-Yau four-fold $\sum_{a=1}^5 z_a^2 = 0$, describing the cone on V(5,2)..
