Jane Buxton is a BCCDC Investigator Emeritus and was formerly a physician epidemiologist for hepatitis and the medical lead for harm reduction at BCCDC. She is also a professor in the UBC School of Population & Public Health
Dr. Buxton's field of research is harm reduction. She developed the inter-sectoral Drug Overdose and Alert Partnership in 2011 and the provincial

She is engaged in quantitative, qualitative and participatory research with marginalized populations, ensuring that people who use drugs are involved in developing priorities for research, policy and harm-reduction program evaluation.
Dr. Buxton holds an MBBS (Medicine), an MRCGP (General Practice UK), an MHSc (Community Medicine) and an FRCPC (Community Medicine).
Over the past 10 years, she has supervised over 100
students on placement at BCCDC, including residents, medical students and master's of public health students on practicum. She also supervises MSc and PhD students at UBC.
