DriveExplorer™ Discontinuation Notice / Version 6.04.

99 Freeware

Product Overview
DriveExplorer software was originally released in 1998 and provided the following features:
 Lite (freeware) and Full (pay-for) versions
 Connectivity to Bulletin 160 drives, SCANport-based drives, PowerFlex 4-Class drives, PowerFlex 7-Class drives and
select other Rockwell Automation products
 Online configuration only (no offline capability)
 Serial (Lite and Full versions) and Ethernet (Full version) connectivity
 Intuitive, easy-to-use configuration and monitoring tool

Product Obsolescence – Now Freeware

DriveExplorer became a legacy software product with the release of Connected Component Workbench (CCW) software v2.00 in
September 2012.
 1203-USB serial converter no longer ships with the DriveExplorer Lite version CD. Users must now download the
desired drive configuration software instead (CCW or DriveExplorer) or request a free CCW DVD
 The Lite version of DriveExplorer that was posted on the web has been removed. Users can download CCW or the
Full version of DriveExplorer instead
 The Full version of DriveExplorer is no longer available for sale and is now being offered as freeware to support
existing DriveExplorer users

Software downloads are available on our Drives Web Updates site at:
http://www.ab.com/support/abdrives/webupdate/software.html#

A serial number will be requested when installing DriveExplorer – use any series of numbers or letters.

Important Notes
 DriveExplorer is being provided “as-is”, which means no further updates will be provided. The primary purpose for
providing it as freeware now is in support of existing DriveExplorer customers that may have lost their copy of the
software
 DriveExplorer runs on Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 operating systems
 DriveExplorer supports legacy SCANport-based drive products, such as1305, 1336 PLUS II, 1336 IMPACT, and 1336
FORCE drives, whereas Connected Components Workbench does not.
 DriveExplorer should NOT be used with the PowerFlex 520 Series of drives. Although it may connect and some
features may work, it will not save your complete configuration for a drive.
 Connected Components Workbench v2.00 was released in September 2012 and is now the preferred drive
configuration software tool offering over DriveExplorer. It provides significant new features versus DriveExplorer,
such as:
o Full-functionality freeware version
o Offline capability (in addition to online)
o Variety of connectivity options (uses RSLinx services)
o Diagram views (similar to DriveExecutive and RSLogix 5000 Drive AOPs)
o Embedded Product User Manuals

Introduced primarily to support the existing PowerFlex family of drives and future PowerFlex drive products, CCW does
not support some of the legacy drives supported by DriveExplorer:
o No Bulletin 160 drive support
o No SCANport-based drive support
DriveExplorer should continue to be used with these legacy devices.
