Subject: TLE- Agri-Crop Production
Target Learners: Grade 10
Content Standard: The learners demonstrate an understanding of the underlying concepts and principles
in caring and maintaining crops
Performance Standard: The learners shall be able to care for and maintain crops
LO 1. Prepare materials, tools and equipment for agronomic crop work preferably in fertilizer making.
CODE: TLE_AFAC9- 12CW-Ia-e-1
I.Objectives
At the end of the lesson the students are able to:
a. Enumerate and discuss the steps in making fermented fruit juice
b. Appreciate the uses of fermented fruit juice; and
c. Perform fermented fruit juice.
b. Materials: Visual Aids, rubber band, clay pot, crude sugar chopping board, knife,
basin, fruit, manila paper
Motivation
Class, are you familiar about
organic fertilizer? Yes, ma’am.
Can you site some examples of
organic fertilizers? (student answers vary.)
Very good!
Statement of the Aim
Today, we will discuss and perform
fermented fruit juice.
Presentation
Class, do you know what fermented
fruit juice is? (student answer.)
Fermented fruit juice or FFJ is an
extract from different extract from different
fruits that undergone fermentation.
Now, here are some uses and rates
of application of FFJ.
1. Flower inducer and fruit setter – 2-4
tbsp./gallon of water.
2. Soil microorganism activity
accelerator – 1 tbsp./Liter of water.
3. Spray to animal beddings to hasten
manure decomposition.
4. As a nutritious drink – 1 tbsp./day
for human and 1 tbsp./liter for
livestock.
Class, are you ready to know the
steps in making fermented fruit juice? yes, ma’am.
Alright, but before that let us first
know the ingredients and materials
needed for making FFJ.
The ingredients are:
Crude Sugar
Fruit (Banana)
The Materials Are:
Clay Pot
Knife
Chopping Board
Rubber Band
Clean Paper
Basin
Generalization
So, these are the ingredients and
materials to be used in making
fermentation.
Application/Demonstration
Now, I will group you into three
groups. Count numbers 1-3. Group 1 stay
on the right side, Group 2 stay on the right
side and group 3 stay on the center. Move! (Students do as told.)
Class, I will give you the ingredients
and materials needed for processing FFJ
and we will have a synchronized
fermentation. I will read to the step 1 by 1
and you will perform based on the step
that I will read.
Is it clear? Yes, ma’am.
But before that let me read and
explain to you first the criteria on how I will
evaluate your output.
Criteria:
Accuracy – 50%
Cleanliness and Orderliness – 20%
Teamwork – 15%
Speed – 5%
100%
Steps: (Students perform the steps in
making fermented fruit juice.)
Step 1: Prepare the materials and
ingredients needed.
Step 2: Chop the unpeeled fruit into small
pieces.
Step 3: Put ¼ kg. of chopped materials in
basin and ¼ kg. of crude sugar
then mix thoroughly with your bare
hands.
Step 4: Put the mixture in the pot.
Step 5: Cover it with paper then secure it
with a string or rubber band and
label it with the date you process
your fermentation.
Step 6: Store the container with the
mixture for 7 days or more in a
cool dry shady place.
Step 7: After 7 days or more, harvest the
mixture by putting on a net bag
and squeeze to extract its juice
then strain the juice before putting
in the container.
Step 8: Clean all the materials used as
well as your work place.
V.Evaluation
Direction: Read the following questions
carefully and answer correctly.
Test I. Enumeration.
Enumerate the following steps in
processing fermented fruit juice.
Test II. Essay (2 pts.)
How important fermented fruit juice
is?
VII.Assignment
For your assignment, I will group
you into 6 groups and I will give each
group a topic and it should be studied in
advance for our next meeting.
Is it clear?
That’s all for today, goodbye class! Goodbye ma’am.
