IV. LEARNING PHASES AND LEARNING ACTIVITIES
I. Introduction (Time Frame: 90 minutes)
Presentation
From the previous lesson, we discussed the different types of farm records specifically, the activities in farm
inputs and farm tools inventory. Before you proceed, let us find out if you can answer correctly the activity below by
classifying farm inputs, farm tools or farm equipment
Learning Task 1: Classification
Direction: Identify whether the given is farm input, farm tool or farm equipment. Write I for farm
input, T for farm tool and E for farm equipment.
_________ 1. Fertilizer _________ 6. Hand fork
_________ 2. Plow _________ 7. Tractor
_________ 3. Pesticides _________8. Shovel
_________ 4. Hand trowel _________9. Rake
_________ 5. Sprinkler _________ 10. Hand fork

In this lesson, you will learn the knowledge, skills, and attitudes in maintaining production
record. It includes preparing production plan, making production activities schedule, and
preparing production report. You will also learn the importance of input and production monitoring.
These production records are important to monitor and track your production and to have high
production yield

Learning Task 2 : Fill me in

Direction: Fill in the missing letter to complete the word/s correctly.

Maintain Production Record

PRODUCTION RECORD
Production records are used in farming as way of record keeping to better maintain a crop. Farm management involves crop
planning, keeping track of crops and being able to plan production on the basis production records from the previous season. Record-keeping
and records of production in agriculture provide the basis on which and when a farmer works.

PRODUCTION PLAN
Production planning comprises of all the details relating to how your farm operation will produce market products. It includes
growing all types of crops. This may also include evaluating your land production potential, the varieties and breeds you choose for your land
and production method, the types of tools, equipment, implements, machinery and facilities you have or require as well as the production
practices. Although the best preparation methods are the practical knowledge and experiences you have from your own farm or working on
other farms in your community, there are ranges of agencies and networks that can help you on the various issues and problems that you may
encounter.
IV. LEARNING PHASES AND LEARNING ACTIVITIES

Importance of Production Plan

 Creates an efficient process for production according to costumer and organizational needs
 It optimizes both costumer-dependent processes such as on time delivery and costumer-independent processes, such as
production cycle time.

PRODUCTION ACTIVITIES

 Planting- the act of setting seed or crops into the ground to grow
 Applying Fertilizer- Fertilizers are applied to replace the essential nutrients for plant growth to the soil
after they have been depleted
 Applying Pesticides-Pesticide application refers to the practical way in
which pesticides (including herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, or nematode control agents)
are delivered to their biological targets (e.g. pest organism, crop or other plant)
 Implementation of bio-security measures -Biosecurity refers to measures that are taken to stop the
spread or introduction of harmful organisms to human, animal and plant life.
 Irrigation/watering -Irrigation is the process of watering crops, pasture, and plants by the use of water,
which is supplied through pipes, sprinklers, canals, sprays, pumps and other man-made
features, rather than purely relying on rainfall.
 Weeding -  the act of removing wild plants from a place where they are not wanted
 Harvesting -  is the process of removal of entire plants or economic parts after maturity
 Post-harvesting- postharvest handling is the stage of crop production immediately following harvest,
including cooling, cleaning, sorting and packing.

SCHEDULE OF PRODUCTION ACTIVITIES

It is important to take note the observation to monitor the correct number of days after planting. Too early or delay of doing some
activities may affect the growth and production of crop that will result to low production yield having high expenses yet low net income.

D. Development (Time Frame: 30 minutes)

Learning Task 3: Matching type
Direction: Match the production activities in column A with the statement in column B. Write only the letter of
your answer on a clean sheet of paper.

______ 5. Weeding e. The stage of crop production immediately following harvest
______ 6. Harvesting f. A practical way of eliminating insect pest and diseases
______ 7. Post harvesting g. Act of setting seed into the ground to raise
______ 8. Implementation of bio-security h. Applied to replace the essential nutrients for plant growth to the soil
measures after they have been depleted
