Swampland Conjectures and Infinite Flop Chains / Brodie, Callum R. (IPhT, Saclay) ; Constantin, Andrei (Oxford U., Theor. Phys. ; U. Oxford (main)) ; Lukas, Andre (Oxford U., Theor. Phys.) ; Ruehle, Fabian (CERN ; Oxford U., Theor. Phys.)
We investigate swampland conjectures for quantum gravity in the context of M-theory compactified on Calabi-Yau threefolds which admit infinite sequences of flops. Naively, the moduli space of such compactifications contains paths of arbitrary geodesic length traversing an arbitrarily large number of Kähler cones, along which the low-energy spectrum remains virtually unchanged. [...]

Moduli-dependent KK towers and the swampland distance conjecture on the quintic Calabi-Yau manifold / Ashmore, Anthony (Chicago U. ; Chicago U., EFI ; Paris, LPTHE) ; Ruehle, Fabian (CERN ; Oxford U., Theor. Phys.)
We use numerical methods to obtain moduli-dependent Calabi-Yau metrics and from them the moduli-dependent massive tower of Kaluza-Klein states for the one-parameter family of quintic Calabi-Yau manifolds. We then compute geodesic distances in their Kähler and complex structure moduli space using exact expressions from mirror symmetry, approximate expressions, and numerical methods and compare the results. Geodesics in the extended Kähler cone of Calabi-Yau threefolds / Brodie, Callum R. (IPhT, Saclay) ; Constantin, Andrei (Oxford U., Theor. Phys.) ; Lukas, Andre (Oxford U., Theor. Phys.) ; Ruehle, Fabian (Oxford U., Theor. Phys. ; CERN)
We present a detailed study of the effective cones of Calabi-Yau threefolds with $h^{1,1}=2$, including the possible types of walls bounding the Kähler cone and a classification of the intersection forms arising in the geometrical phases. For all three normal forms in the classification we explicitly solve the geodesic equation and use this to study the evolution near Kähler cone walls and across flop transitions in the context of M-theory compactifications. Classifying Calabi-Yau threefolds using infinite distance limits / Grimm, Thomas W. (Utrecht U.) ; Ruehle, Fabian (CERN ; Oxford U., Theor. Phys.) ; van de Heisteeg, Damian (Utrecht U.)
We present a novel way to classify Calabi-Yau threefolds by systematically studying their infinite volume limits. Each such limit is at infinite distance in Kahler moduli space and can be classified by an associated limiting mixed Hodge structure. [...]

Moduli-dependent Calabi-Yau and SU(3)-structure metrics from Machine Learning / Anderson, Lara B. (Virginia Tech.) ; Gerdes, Mathis (Munich U., ASC) ; Gray, James (Virginia Tech.) ; Krippendorf, Sven (Munich U., ASC) ; Raghuram, Nikhil (Virginia Tech.) ; Ruehle, Fabian (CERN ; Oxford U., Theor. Phys.)
We use machine learning to approximate Calabi-Yau and SU(3)-structure metrics, including for the first time complex structure moduli dependence. Our new methods furthermore improve existing numerical approximations in terms of accuracy and speed [...]

Decoding Nature with Nature's Tools: Heterotic Line Bundle Models of Particle Physics with Genetic Algorithms and Quantum Annealing / Abel, Steve A. (Durham U., IPPP ; Durham U., Dept. of Math. ; King's Coll. London ; CERN) ; Constantin, Andrei (Oxford U., Theor. Phys.) ; Harvey, Thomas R. (Oxford U., Theor. Phys.) ; Lukas, Andre (Oxford U., Theor. Phys.) ; Nutricati, Luca A. (Durham U., IPPP ; Durham U., Dept. of Math.)
The string theory landscape may include a multitude of ultraviolet embeddings of the Standard Model, but identifying these has proven difficult due to the enormous number of available string compactifications. Genetic Algorithms (GAs) represent a powerful class of discrete optimisation techniques that can efficiently deal with the immensity of the string landscape, especially when enhanced with input from quantum annealers. Swampland Distance Conjecture for One-Parameter Calabi-Yau Threefolds / Joshi, Abhinav (speaker) (University of Bonn)
We investigate the swampland distance conjecture (SDC) in the complex moduli space of type II compactifications on one-parameter Calabi-Yau threefolds. This class of manifolds contains hundreds of examples and, in particular, a subset of 14 geometries with hypergeometric differential Picard-Fuchs operators. [...]

Instantons and Hilbert Functions / Buchbinder, Evgeny I. (Western Australia U.) ; Lukas, Andre (Oxford U., Theor. Phys.) ; Ovrut, Burt A. (Pennsylvania U.) ; Ruehle, Fabian (Oxford U., Theor. Phys. ; CERN)
We study superpotentials from worldsheet instantons in heterotic Calabi-Yau compactifications for vector bundles constructed from line bundle sums, monads and extensions. Within a certain class of manifolds and for certain second homology classes, we derive simple necessary conditions for a non-vanishing instanton superpotential. [...]
