NSTP REFLECTION
In our NTSP class this academic school year weve experienced a lot of new things. The most memorable of them would be teaching the children, educating them about their subjects and helping them to review for their quizzes. Another one would be the Mural painting that weve done to show that the residents of Sitio Mabilog Ayta Magantsi are proud of their culture. Our partner communities are Sitio Galilee, F. Del Rosario and Sitio Mabilog. Our class visited there in December 9, 2012; December 16 2012 and February 17, 2013 respectively. In these events our adviser Mr. Eric Aboboto guided as thoroughly, instructing us where and when our activities will be held. He gives us tasks but we have the freedom to do what we want. Making us use our minds on how we could accomplish this works within the day. Good thing I have my group mates all architecture students- who have help me to accomplish all them. The goals of the activities lead to one. To help those who are in need and to be aware of their needs. In example when we tackle about children, PWDs and native Filipinos, we talked about what their needs are and how this needs can be satisfied. We put ourselves in their shoe to know how they would feel and act in different situations. Then it also teach us to socialize and care to other people, during are fieldworks we try to experience nature and live as the people in that are live. For me the short term goals of the project where to help those who are in need and be part of the community that we are helping. During our fieldworks we are always carefully oriented to care and understand the people in the community that we need to treat them right. Its long term goals are simple as well. To be sensitive and our eyes always open to surroundings. Having the heart to help to those people around us. Yes, our past experiences were a stepping stone for this semester, our in formations about what to do to the place and how to interact the people were great factors to the success and productivity this semester. The skill that I learned and have used in my community would be to socialize to people. We were developed to be more open to others. To share our
The event that has created the greatest effect on me would be the local aetas of Sitio Mabilog. I was glad I came to that fieldwork for the locals, especially the kids are always smiling even they have a hard life there. For their place was on top of a mountain. Water and formal education where hard to find. But still they are always cheerful, playing with simple things like bugs or going up trees. I want to be like them, always smiling no matter what problems occur. Always thinking positive about life. Yes, it has greatly affected my world view. Teaching me that you dont need much to be happy. That no matter what problems occur, you just need to smile and show that cheerful child inside you. I believe what seemed to be ineffective to the community was that we were not able to socialize well with their aged people. The adults were always busy that we are not able to talk and ask them questions. But the good thing about it was that we became focus to the children, helping and teaching them the things that we know. I know that because of the things weve done the people are thankful for when we leave their smiles are always visible and their eyes gazing upon us. Other people can be educated by us sharing the things that weve experienced. Publishing them in social sites. The most satisfying part of the work would be seeing the children smile. For when they smile we know that weve done a good job and that they are happy that we are there. I believe I have become a better person because of NSTP, I realized that there is more to life than studying. That our goal would not always be on top or to be successful but it is to have a heart to help other people. For I was enlightened that helping others does not only make them happy, for we the helpers as well learned things from them and gain more than what they gain. We gain a heart that is full of kindness. We gain a mind that is sensitive to the society.
