EXCLUSIVEAlina Habba gives behind-the-scenes insight into her 'trusted' relationship with Trump

Alina Habba hopes to use her new White House role to secure for Americans the same protections she fought to get for Donald Trump during his lawsuits.

Specifically, she said her passion lies in preventing weaponization of the legal system against U.S. citizens.

'I fought for President Trump, but now I get to fight for America to make sure it doesn't happen to anybody,' Habba told DailyMail.com in an exclusive interview.

Trump announced this month that Habba will serve as counselor to the president in his second administration, the role that Kellyanne Conway had in the president-elect's first go around.

Habba said she is 'honored' and detailed how her role with the president-elect has naturally gone from attorney to adviser over the last three years.

'I've effectively been counselor to the president for the last three and a half years,' Habba explained.

'I started as his attorney, and as time went on, I became something else,' she went on. 'I became a spokesperson, then I became his general counsel to his PAC, and then I became a senior adviser to the campaign. So, for me, the road that I've been on is a natural progression to where I'm going.'

A person familiar with Habba's relationship with Trump told Daily Mail: 'She's morphed into one of [Trump's] most trusted advisers.'

Habba says her son, daughter and step son all support her decision to move to Washington, D.C. for her new role with the Trump administration and she will spend her time going back-and-forth between the White House and New Jersey

Habba says her son, daughter and step son all support her decision to move to Washington, D.C. for her new role with the Trump administration and she will spend her time going back-and-forth between the White House and New Jersey

Habba is still working on her policy portfolio but knew she wanted to come to D.C. when the role was presented to her.

An attorney by trade, claims that her passion in life lies in lawfare and stopping the government from weaponizing the justice system against Americans.

She noted: 'There are definitely things I'm very passionate about, lawfare being one of them, making sure that the things that happen to President Trump don't happen again, working with the Attorney General's office, working with the DOJ, working with other departments to make sure our country and the America First mission is, in fact, put in place.'

But going to Washington, D.C., wasn't an easy choice for Habba, who has two children and one step-son in New Jersey.

'The decision to go to the White House was really a tough one, because I want to make sure that I had a purpose that would serve the country and Trump well,' she divulged.

Habba was in the middle of packing her bags for the big move to an apartment in the nation's capital next month when speaking with DailyMail.com.

The close Trump confidante says she has the support of her family as she prepares to spend at least the next four years going back-and-forth between D.C. and her home in New Jersey.

'I will be in the swamp,' Habba laughed. 'I will be there, serving the American people full-time.'

'That's kind of why I took this so seriously,' she added. 'For me to make a move like that is not a decision I take lightly.'

When she was offered the role of Counselor to the President, Habba 'knew it was the right thing to do' to accept it and make the major move.

And her nine-year-old daughter, 11-year-old son and 17-year-old step-son encouraged her to take the job.

'They said, "Mommy, you have to go. This is what you've been fighting for". So, you know, my children are excited for me and that made the decision a lot easier,' Habba recalled.

'I'm going to keep my children as normal as can be, here with their Dad,' she said of the logistics. 'And I will spend the free time that I have coming up and down to New Jersey.'

'But you know, my dedication to the country is incredibly important, as is my family, and to do this in a way that disrupts them the least is always important to me.'

Americans shouldn't expect to see Habba behind the briefing room podium any time soon, even though Trump supporters have said they want to, after she became known as a media attack dog.

It was initially thought that Habba might be in consideration for the role of press secretary, but Trump's national spokeswoman for his 2024 campaign is taking that role instead.

'Karoline Leavitt has done a tremendous job with media and I think she's going to be great,' Habba said.

'Obviously, I've always been in the media since I started working for Trump. I don't think that will change,' she continued. 'My role to him is more of an adviser, I always have been. And that's very different than fielding those questions that Karoline will do.'

Habba took on members of the media when she was serving as Trump's attorney.

She spoke outside the courthouse on several occasions to defend her client and slam what she claimed were partisan, politicalized legal proceedings against him.

In July her new role was unveiled when she spoke at the Republican National Convention (RNC) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin after she joined the campaign as a senior adviser.

After that, she frequently appeared on the campaign trail in the final months of the 2024 election season.
