Clampdown (G1)
From Transformers Wiki
The name or term "Clampdown" refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Clampdown (disambiguation). |
- Clampdown is an Autobot from the Generation 1 continuity family.
Assigned to an Earth police force as head of the Interplanetary Personnel Exchange Program along with his brother Deep Cover, Clampdown (クランプダウン Kuranpudaun, also Clamp Down) is a tough, dedicated cop[1] who works tirelessly along with his human partners. Uncomplicated in his way of thinking, the straightforward, sometimes black-and-white view he has taken thanks to the Autobot/Decepticon war occasionally clashes with the views of his new co-workers, not to mention the legal system.[2]
Operating with the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, his human partner is Officer Miko Tezuka.[3]

Wings Universe
At the dawn of the Machine Wars, Clamp Down was a security officer operating on Cybertron. Dedicated to law and order, Clamp Down had no qualms about imprisoning fellow Autobots such as Gunrunner, Mirage, and Electro when they violated Cybertronian law. When generals Obsidian and Strika ordered all prisoners released who were willing and able to take up arms against Jhiaxus and his clones, Clamp Down very reluctantly did so. Even still, he tried to force a confession out of Mirage and Electro about their smuggling activities first, and refused to arm Electro with the sword he needed to focus his forestonite powers.
Despite his myopia in the face of open warfare, Clamp Down was named one of the City Commanders of Cybertron in defense of the oncoming invasion force. Termination Clamp Down was later present at the signing of the Pax Cybertronia at Autobot City, where he shook Starscream's hand. A Common Foe

A Warrior of the Seven Lights resembling Clampdown was a member of the White Order of the Primus Vanguard. My Little Pony/Transformers
Clampdown was one of the many Cybertronians who had been magically brainwashed by the evil King Sombra. During the final battle against Sombra and his minions, he deployed Clampdown and a number of other reserve soldiers to keep his attackers occupied while he charged up his next spell, but he didn't get far before Ravage and Applejack tripped him up. After Sombra had been defeated, all of his victims, including Clampdown, were returned to normal. Finale

Toys
Collector's Edition
- Clampdown (Autobot Car, 2003)
- ID number: 91
- Accessories: "Automatic handgun" rifle, launcher, 3 "Flashbang Grenade" missiles
- Collector's Edition Clampdown is a repaint of the original Red Alert toy, based on the pre-Transformers "New Countach LP500S Police Car Type" Diaclone toy that became Red Alert. Recursive! He transforms into a Lamborghini Countach LP500S (obviously), using exactly the same base plastic colors as Red Alert, but with different paint and decal applications to make him into a Japanese police car. Several factory-applied decals on the original version were replaced by painted tampographs, like his headlamps. Some of the deco was also altered away from its Diaclone design to be Transformers-specific, namely putting the Autobot sigil in his hood/chest badge and replacing all instances of "Diaclone" text with "Cybertron". As he was released in Japan, his spring-loaded missile launcher is fully operational.
- He was only available in an e-HOBBY exclusive set with Deep Cover; both toys were separately boxed but could only be bought as a pair. Pre-orders for the set closed on January 10, 2003, with the toys shipping out in March.
- The base mold was also used for Sideswipe, Deep Cover, and Tigertrack.

Masterpiece
- Clampdown (Masterpiece, 2015)
- ID number: MP-14C
- Release date: December 26, 2015
- Accessories: lazer homing SAM launcher, electron pulse gun, two screw driver pile drivers
- Masterpiece Clampdown is a redeco of MP-14 Alert, transforming into a licensed Lamborghini Countach LP500S with a light-bar. Standing at around 6¼ inches (or 15.5 centimetres) from head to toe in robot mode, he is in scale with MP-10 Optimus Prime, and can fit inside Prime's trailer in vehicle mode. His non-firing rocket launcher is jointed at the peg to allow it to pivot up and down, and can fit on either shoulder (it should be mounted on his right), while his rifle can be held in either hand. Both weapons can also be combined and mounted onto his light-bar. Clampdown also comes with new pile driver accessories which can snap onto the ends of his forearms when either hand is flipped in. These are different from either of the pairs of pile drivers available with MP-12 Lambor, and represent the weapons as they appeared in "S.O.S. Dinobots".
- In Japan, he was sold exclusively through TakaraTomy Mall, but was also available outside Japan through Hasbro Asia. When purchased from a seller supplied by Hasbro Asia, Clampdown came with a special collector coin, mounted on a card styled to resemble his vehicle mode hood/chest, with a lightbar across the top.

- Known designers: Mark Maher (Hasbro)
- Part of the first wave of the Velocitron Speedia 500 Collection subline of Transformers: Legacy, "Diaclone Universe Clampdown" is -naturally- a redeco of Kingdom Red Alert (complete with the entire suite of accessories), which is in itself a retooling of Siege Sideswipe, that transforms into unlicensed approximation of an emergency Lamborghini Countach LP500S in police deco. This figure notably lacks the red legs and upper arms of the original Generation 1 figure in order to give him a little more visual separation from Red Alert. He has multiple 5 mm post-holes in both modes in order to make use of the many other figures from recent years that disassemble into weapons and armor, plus his accessories are compatible with the "Fire Blast effects" that came with many other toys.
- The Velocitron Speedia 500 Collection was exclusive to Walmart in the US, with Hasbro Pulse receiving limited quantities of the figure. The series went up for pre-order on July 21st 2022, and started arriving in stores by August 1st. However, Clampdown and Cosmos were both shortpacked at one each per case where everyone else in the Deluxe assortment shipped at two per, thus those two pre-sold-out very quickly at both Pulse and Walmart's website. That being said, he did get repacked in the second wave (albeit still at 1 per case). The series was a TakaraTomy Mall exclusive in Japan, and a Farmers department store exclusive in New Zealand.
