Curtis Gedak has announced the release of GParted Live 1.8.0-2, the latest stable release of the project's Debian-based specialist live CD with tools suitable for disk partitioning and data rescue tasks. The new build updates the GParted utility to version 1.8.0 and the Linux kernel to version 6.18.5: "The GParted team is pleased to announce a new stable release of GParted Live. This release includes GParted 1.8.0, updated packages, and other improvements. Items of note include: includes GParted 1.8.0; fix crash due to not checking for failure to load icon; fix hangs setting FAT label when matches a root folder entry; erase file system signatures before all FileSystem copies; based on the Debian 'Sid' repository as of 2026-01-27; Linux kernel image updated to 6.18.5; added a mechanism to avoid blank screen. There is an issue with help on Virtual Machines. Specifically the menu option Help, Contents opens and displays a black window on Virtual Machines. The workaround is to view help on documentation page. X Desktop GUI fails to display with default boot options? Try Other modes of GParted Live, GParted Live (Safe graphics setting, vga-normal)." Curtis Gedak has announced the release of GParted Live 1.7.0-8, a new stable release of the project's Debian-based specialist live CD designed for disk partitioning and data rescue tasks. This release release drops support for 32-bit processors due to Debian's decision to no longer pack i386 Linux kernel and it also updates the Linux kernel to version 6.12.37. "The GParted team is pleased to announce a new stable release of GParted Live. This release includes GParted 1.7.0, updated packages and other improvements. Items of note include: only amd64 (x86-64) images are available going forward - as mentioned in the Debian release mailing list, dropping i386 kernel packages, the i386 Linux kernel packages were dropped in our upstream, Debian 'Sid' repository, hence i686/i686-pae GParted Live will be no more in the future; from this release on, only amd64 (x86-64) release will be available; includes GParted 1.7.0; implemented a mechanism to reduce the possibility of random order of block devices in GParted Live; based on the Debian 'Sid' repository as of 2025-07-12; Linux kernel image updated to 6.12.37. The project's latest release is GParted Live 1.7.0-1 which provides recognition for network block devices and Bcachefs. "Key changes include: Recognise NBDs (Network Block Devices). Add support for Bcachefs (experimental), single device file systems only. Prevent GParted probe starting LVM Volume Groups. Increase minimum required version of libparted to 3.2. Bug fixes: Recognise NBDs (Network Block Devices). Update CI jobs for Ubuntu 24.04 LTS and use Rocky Linux 8. Read exFAT file system usage from exfatprogs >= 1.2.3. Fix serial number for my USB key showing binary data. Add support for Bcachefs, single device file systems only. Prevent GParted probe starting LVM Volume Groups. Following the recent new release of the GParted disk partitioning software, the GParted Live distribution has also received an update to version 1.6.0-1. GParted Live is a specialist live CD image designed for disk partitioning and data rescue tasks; it is based on Debian's "unstable" branch. Besides GParted 1.6.0, the new version of GParted Live comes with various software updates, including that of the Linux kernel to version 6.6.15 from the most recent long-term supported branch: "The GParted team is pleased to announce a new stable release of GParted Live. This release includes GParted 1.6.0, updated packages and other improvements. Items of note include: includes GParted 1.6.0 - stop forcing 1 MiB gap when moving partition boundary right, fix crash when dealing with 0000-0000 exfat UUID; remove Attempt Data Rescue and use of gpart; based on the Debian 'Sid' repository as of 2024-02-27; Linux kernel image updated to 6.6.15. The project's latest release, GParted Live 1.3.0-1, improves exFAT filesystem support, makes it possible to resize LUKS2 encrypted volumes, and fixes a number of potential crashes. "This release of GParted includes enhancements, bug fixes and language translation updates. Key changes include: Support resizing open LUKS2 encryption mappings; improve exFAT support such as read FS usage and set UUID; fix crash in Create New Partition dialog when changing type; avoid GParted hanging when non-named device is hung.
