Resistive Plate Chambers for 2013-2014 upgrade of CMS / Colafranceschi, Stefano (CERN) /CMS Collaboration
The Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) detector operates at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN. It was proposed to install the fourth endcap (+,- RE4) consisting of Resistive Plate Chambers (RPCs) for the CMS muon Endcap system, in order to improve its Level-1 trigger efficiency and thereby completing the full implementation of the TDR, after which LHC will run with its full designed luminosity. [...]

Performances of the Gas Gain Monitoring system of the CMS RPC muon detectors after one year of operation at the scaled down closed loop recirculation gas system are presented. The GGM is made of 12 single-gap RPC's arranged in a cosmic ray telescope, with charge readout for online monitoring of working point. [...]

Performance of the Gas Gain Monitoring system of the CMS RPC muon detector and effective working point fine tuning / Colafranceschi, S. (CERN ; Rome U.) ; Benussi, L. (Frascati) ; Bianco, S. (Frascati ; Rome U.) ; Abbrescia, M. (Bari U. ; INFN, Bari) et al.
The Gas Gain Monitoring (GGM) system of the Resistive Plate Chamber (RPC) muon detector in the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment provides fast and accurate determination of the stability in the working point conditions due to gas mixture changes in the closed loop recirculation system. In 2011 the GGM began to operate using a feedback algorithm to control the applied voltage, in order to keep the GGM response insensitive to environmental temperature and atmospheric pressure variations. [...]

Production of RPC gaps for CMS upgrade / Keun Park , Sung (Korea U., KODEL) /CMS Collaboration
The CMS collaboration intends to improve the muon trigger efficiency in the forward region. In order to achieve this goal, 144 new Resistive Plate Chambers (RPCs) at RE4/2, RE4/3 will be installed on the existing york YE3 to trigger high momentum muons from the proton-proton interaction. In this paper, we present the detailed procedures used in the production of the CMS RPC gas gaps adopted in the CMS upgrade. Quality assurance is enforced as ways to maintain the quality of RPC gas gaps as the previous CMS endcap RPC chambers [...]
