In this paper, we present the field programmable gate arrays (FPGA)-based framework intelligent FPGA data acquisition (IFDAQ), which is used for the development of DAQ systems for detectors in high-energy physics. The framework supports Xilinx FPGA and provides a collection of IP cores written in very high speed integrated circuit hardware description language, which use the common interconnect interface. Recently, a stability of Data Acquisition System (DAQ) has become a vital precondition for a successful data taking in high energy physics experiments. The intelligent, FPGA-based Data Acquisition System (iFDAQ) of theCOMPASS experiment at CERN is designed to be able to readout data at the maximum rate of the experiment and runsin a mode without any stops. A network of Timepix (TPX) devices installed in the ATLAS cavern has the unique capability of measuring the luminosity with thermal neutron counting in Large Hadron Collider proton-proton collisions at 13 TeV. Compared with the hit-counting method, the method of thermal neutron counting has the advantage that it is not affected by induced radioactivity. [...]
