A measurement of the QCD colour factors and a limit on the light gluino / ALEPH Collaboration
Using data collected from 1992 to 1995 with the ALEPH detector at LEP, a measurement of the colour factor ratios CA/CF and TF/CF and the strong coupling constant $\overline{\alpha}_s = CF \alpha_s(Mz)/ (2\pi)$ has been performed by fitting theoretical predictions simultaneously to the measured differential two-jet rate and angular distributions in four-jet events. The result is found to be in excellent agreement with QCD, CA/CF = 2.20 +- 0.09 (stat) +- 0.13 (syst) , TF/CF = 0.29 +- 0.05 (stat) +- 0.06 (syst) . [...]

Measurement of the Forward-Backward Asymmetry in $Z \to b\overline{b}$ and $Z \to c\overline{c}$ Decays with Leptons / ALEPH Collaboration
The sample of hadronic Z decays collected by the ALEPH detector at LEP in the years 1991-1995 is analysed in order to measure the forward-backward asymmetry in $Z \to b\bar{b}$ and $Z \to c\bar{c}$ events and the $B^0-\bar{B^0}$ average mixing parameter $\bar{\chi}$. Four-jet final state production in $e^+ e^-$ collisions at centre-of-mass energies ranging from 130 to 184 GeV / ALEPH Collaboration
The four jet topology is analysed in the ALEPH data taken between November 1995 and November 1997, at centre-of-mass energies ranging from 130 to 184 GeV. While an unexpected accumulation of events with a dijet mas sum around 105 GeV/c**2 had been observed during the first run in 1995 at 130/136 GeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.7 pb-1, no significant differences between data and standard model prediction is noticed, either in the high energy runs (81.1 pb-1 taken at centre-of-mass energies from 161 to 184 GeV) or in the 7.1 pb-1 recorded during a new short run at 130/136 GeV in 1997. Measurement of the mass of the $\Lambda_{b}$ baryon / ALEPH Collaboration
In a data sample of four million hadronic \Z\ decays collected with the ALEPH detector at LEP, four $\Lambda_b$ baryon candidates are exclusively reconstructed in the $\Lambda_b \rightarrow \Lambda_c^+ \pi^-$ channel, with the $\Lambda_c^+$ decaying into $pK^-\pi^+$, $p\bar{K^0}$, or $\Lambda\pi^+\pi^+\pi^-$. The probability of the observed signal to be due to a background fluctuation is estimated to be $4.2 \times 10^{-4}$. [...]

Production of excited beauty states in Z decays / ALEPH Collaboration
A data sample of about 3.0 million hadronic Z decays collected by the ALEPH experiment at LEP in the years 1991 through 1994, is used to make an inclusive selection of B~hadron events. In this event sample 4227 \pm 140 \pm 252 B^* mesons in the decay B^* \to B \gamma and 1944 \pm 108 \pm 161 B^{**} mesons decaying into a B~meson and a charged pion are reconstructed. [...]
