A Study of a Quartz Bar Detector in the Forward Region of the CMS Experiment at LHC / Khakzad, Mohsen (IPM, Tehran) ; Samoylenko, Vladimir (Serpukhov, IHEP) ; Baechler, Joachim (CERN) ; Baud, Alexandre (Moscow, ITEP) ; Druzhkin, Dmitry (Tomsk State U.) ; Kaynak, Berkan (Istanbul U.) ; Stefanovitch, Roman (Minsk, Inst. Nucl. Problems) ; Wagner, M. J ; Atakisi, Ismail Okan (Bogazici U.) ; Kaya, Mithat (Bogazici U.) et al.
In high rapidity regions of experiments at colliders (e.g. Large Hadron Collider LHC), along the direction of the interacting beams, the conditions are particularly challenging and the detectors need to have excellent time resolution, spatial resolution, high-rate capability and radiation resistance. Diffractive and Parton Processes with Forward Detectors at the LHC / Penzo, Aldo (Iowa U.) ; Samoylenko, Vladimir (Serpukhov, IHEP) ; Sen, Sercan (Istanbul, Tech. U.) /CMS and TOTEM Collaborations
The Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment, in the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN, has several forward sub-detectors, consisting of calorimeters close to the beam pipe, that complement the central part of CMS, which covers a pseudorapidity range from -3 to +3. The TOTEM experiment, installed around the same interaction point as CMS, is tailored for diffractive measurements. [...]

Physics and Beam Monitoring with Forward Shower Counters (FSC) in CMS / CMS Collaboration
We propose to add forward shower counters, FSC, to CMS along the beam pipes, with 59 m $\lesssim z \lesssim$ 140 m. These will detect showers from very forward particles with $7 \lesssim \eta \lesssim 11$ interacting in the beam pipe and surrounding material. [...]

The ATLAS Forward Physics Project / Royon, Christophe (IRFU, SPP, Saclay)
We describe the main components of the ATLAS Forward Physics project, namely the movable beam pipe, the tracking and timing detectors which allow to detect intact protons in the final state at the LHC. The position detector is composed on 6 layers of 3D silicon detectors readout by FE-I4 chips developped for ATLAS. [...]

Longevity of the CMS ECAL and scintillator-based options for electromagnetic calorimetry at HL-LHC / Li, Hengne (Virginia U.) /for the CMS Collaboration
The CMS lead tungstate (PbWO$_{4}$) electromagnetic calorimeter (ECAL) has successfully achieved its first goal, the Higgs discovery 2012. However, longevity studies show that part of the PbWO$_{4}$ ECAL does not maintain the required performance due to the radiation damaged incurred at the HL-LHC. [...]

Characterisation of Irradiated Thin Silicon Sensors for the CMS Phase II Pixel Upgrade / Centis Vignali, Matteo (Hamburg U.) ; Eckstein, Doris (DESY) ; Eichhorn, Thomas (DESY) ; Garutti, Erika (Hamburg U.) ; Junkes, Alexandra (Hamburg U.) ; Steinbrueck, Georg (Hamburg U.) ; bigskip ; Institut fur Experimentalphysik ; Luruper Chaussee ; Hamburg et al.
The high luminosity upgrade of the Large Hadron Collider, foreseen for 2025, necessitates the replacement of the CMS experiment's silicon tracker. The innermost layer of the new pixel detector will be exposed to severe radiation, corresponding to a 1 MeV neutron equivalent fluence of up to $\Phi_{eq} = 2 \times 10^{16}$ cm$^{-2}$, and an ionising dose of $\approx 5$ MGy after an integrated luminosity of 3000 fb$^{-1}$. Thin, planar silicon sensors are good candidates for this application, since the degradation of the signal produced by traversing particles is less severe than for thicker devices. In this paper, the results obtained from the characterisation of 100 and 200\,$\mu$m thick p-bulk pad diodes and strip sensors irradiated up to fluences of $\Phi_{eq} = 1.3 \times 10^{16}$ cm$^{-2}$ are shown..
