Resonant magnetic fields from inflation / Byrnes, Christian T. (CERN) ; Hollenstein, Lukas (Geneva U., Dept. Theor. Phys. ; Geneva U., CAP) ; Jain, Rajeev Kumar (Geneva U., Dept. Theor. Phys. ; Geneva U., CAP) ; Urban, Federico R. (British Columbia U.)
We propose a novel scenario to generate primordial magnetic fields during inflation induced by an oscillating coupling of the electromagnetic field to the inflaton. This resonant mechanism has two key advantages over previous proposals. [...]

Dissipative Axial Inflation / Notari, Alessio (Barcelona U., Dept. Fund. Phys. ; ICC, Barcelona U.) ; Tywoniuk, Konrad (CERN)
We analyze in detail the background cosmological evolution of a scalar field coupled to a massless abelian gauge field through an axial term ϕfγF˜F, such as in the case of an axion. Gauge fields in this case are known to experience tachyonic growth and therefore can backreact on the background as an effective dissipation into radiation energy density ρR, which which can lead to inflation without the need of a flat potential. Non-Gaussianity from violation of slow-roll in multiple inflation / Hotchkiss, Shaun (Oxford U.) ; Sarkar, Subir (Oxford U.)
Multiple inflation is a model based on N=1 supergravity wherein there are sudden changes in the mass of the inflaton because it couples to 'flat direction' scalar fields which undergo symmetry breaking phase transitions as the universe cools. The resulting brief violations of slow-roll evolution generate a non-gaussian signal which we find to be oscillatory and yielding f_NL ~ 5-20. [...]

Critical Higgs inflation in a Viable Motivated Model / Salvio, Alberto (CERN ; INFN, Rome2 ; Rome U., Tor Vergata)
An extension of the Standard Model with three right-handed neutrinos and a simple invisible axion model can account for all experimentally confirmed signals of new physics (neutrino oscillations, dark matter and baryon asymmetry) in addition to solving the strong CP problem, stabilizing the electroweak vacuum and satisfying all current observational bounds. We show that this model can also implement critical Higgs inflation, which corresponds to the frontier between stability and metastability of the electroweak vacuum. [...]

The Standard Model Higgs potential becomes unstable at large field values. After clarifying the issue of gauge dependence of the effective potential, we study the cosmological evolution of the Higgs field in presence of this instability throughout inflation, reheating and the present epoch. [...]

On the Inflationary Perturbations of Massive Higher-Spin Fields / Kehagias, Alex (CERN ; Natl. Tech. U., Athens) ; Riotto, Antonio (Geneva U., Dept. Theor. Phys. ; Geneva U., CAP)
Cosmological perturbations of massive higher-spin fields are generated during inflation, but they decay on scales larger than the Hubble radius as a consequence of the Higuchi bound. By introducing suitable couplings to the inflaton field, we show that one can obtain statistical correlators of massive higher-spin fields which remain constant or decay very slowly outside the Hubble radius.
