First Look at the Physics Case of TLEP
/ TLEP Design Study Working Group Collaboration
The discovery by the ATLAS and CMS experiments of a new boson with mass around 125 GeV and with measured properties compatible with those of a Standard-Model Higgs boson, coupled with the absence of discoveries of phenomena beyond the Standard Model at the TeV scale, has triggered interest in ideas for future Higgs factories. A new circular e+e- collider hosted in a 80 to 100 km tunnel, TLEP, is among the most attractive solutions proposed so far. [...]

Study of $CP$ violation in $B^0_{(s)} to D K^{*}(892)^0$ decays with $D \to K \pi ( \pi \pi)$, $ \pi \pi( \pi \pi)$, and $KK$ final states
/ LHCb Collaboration
A measurement of $CP$-violating observables associated with the interference of $B^0\to D^0 K^{*}(892)^0$ and $B^0\to \overline{D}^0 K^*(892)^0$ decay amplitudes is performed in the $D^0 \to K^{\mp}\pi^{\pm}(\pi^+\pi^-),$ $D^0 \to \pi^+\pi^-(\pi^+\pi^-)$, and $D^0\to K^+K^-$ final states using data collected by the LHCb experiment corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $9$~$\text{fb}^{-1}$. $CP$-violating observables related to the interference of $B^0_s\to D^0 \overline{K}^*(892)^0$ and $B_s^0\to \overline{D}^0 \overline{K}^*(892)^0$ are also measured, but no evidence for interference is found. Test beam characterization of sensor prototypes for the CMS Barrel MIP Timing Detector
/ CMS MTD Collaboration
The MIP Timing Detector will provide additional timing capabilities for detection of minimum ionizing particles (MIPs) at CMS during the High Luminosity LHC era, improving event reconstruction and pileup rejection. The central portion of the detector, the Barrel Timing Layer (BTL), will be instrumented with LYSO:Ce crystals and Silicon Photomultipliers (SiPMs) providing a time resolution of about 30 ps at the beginning of operation, and degrading to 50-60 ps at the end of the detector lifetime as a result of radiation damage. Measurement of the effective leptonic weak mixing angle
/ LHCb Collaboration
Using $pp$ collision data at $\sqrt{s}=13$~TeV, recorded by the LHCb experiment between 2016 and 2018 and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $5.4$~fb$^{-1}$, the forward-backward asymmetry in the $pp \to Z/\gamma^{*} \to \mu^+\mu^-$ process is measured. The measurement is carried out in ten intervals of the difference between the muon pseudorapidities, within a fiducial region covering dimuon masses between $66$ and $116$ GeV, muon pseudorapidities between $2.0$ and $4.5$ and muon transverse momenta above $20$ GeV. Exploring cosmic origins with CORE: Survey requirements and mission design
/ CORE Collaboration
Future observations of cosmic microwave background (CMB) polarisation have the potential to answer some of the most fundamental questions of modern physics and cosmology. In this paper, we list the requirements for a future CMB polarisation survey addressing these scientific objectives, and discuss the design drivers of the CORE space mission proposed to ESA in answer to the "M5" call for a medium-sized mission. Report from Working Group 5 : Future physics opportunities for high-density QCD at the LHC with heavy-ion and proton beams
/ Citron, Z. (Ben Gurion U. of Negev) ; Dainese, A. (INFN, Padua) ; Grosse-Oetringhaus, J.F. (CERN) ; Jowett, J.M. (CERN) ; Lee, Y.-J. (MIT) ; Wiedemann, U.A. (CERN) ; Winn, M. (AIM, Saclay ; Orsay, LAL) ; Andronic, A. (Munster U.) ; Bellini, F. (CERN) ; Bruna, E. (INFN, Turin) et al.
The future opportunities for high-density QCD with ion and proton beams at the LHC are presented. Four major scientific goals are identified: the characterisation of the macroscopic long wavelength Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP) properties with unprecedented precision, the investigation of the microscopic parton dynamics underlying QGP properties, the development of a unified picture of particle production and QCD dynamics from small (pp) to large (nucleus–nucleus) systems, the exploration of parton densities in nuclei in a broad (x, Q2) kinematic range and the search for the possible onset of parton saturation. Planck 2015 results. I. Overview of products and scientific results
/ Planck Collaboration
The European Space Agency's Planck satellite, dedicated to studying the early Universe and its subsequent evolution, was launched 14~May 2009 and scanned the microwave and submillimetre sky continuously between 12~August 2009 and 23~October 2013. In February~2015, ESA and the Planck Collaboration released the second set of cosmology products based on data from the entire Planck mission, including both temperature and polarization, along with a set of scientific and technical papers and a web-based explanatory supplement.
