Production Testing and Quality Assurance of CMS Silicon Microstrip Tracker Readout Chips
/ Barrillon, Pierre ; Bainbridge, Robert ; Hall, Geoffrey ; Leaver, James ; Noah, E ; Raymond, M ; Bisello, Dario ; Candelori, Andrea ; Kaminski, A ; Stefanuti, L et al.
The APV25 is the 128 channel CMOS chip developed for readout of the silicon microstrip tracker in the CMS experiment at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. The detector is now under construction and will be the largest silicon microstrip system ever built, with ~200m^2 of silicon sensors. [...]

Performance of a CMS Silicon Strip Detector Module with APV25 Readout
/ Friedl, Markus ; Pernicka, Manfred (HEPHY, Vienna, Austria) ; Bauer, Thomas ; Hrubec, Josef ; Krammer, Manfred
The Compact Muon Solenoid experiment (CMS) at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN will include a Silicon Strip Tracker covering a sensitive area of 206m2 with about ten million readout channels. Its silicon detectors, made from 6" wafers, will be read out by APV25 front-end chips, fabricated in the 0.25um deep submicron process which is intrinsically radiation-tolerant. [...]

Tests of CMS Silicon Detector Modules with a 350 MeV/c Hadron Beam
/ Angarano, Matteo Maria (INFN Perugia and Univ., Bari, Italy) ; Bauer, Thomas (HEPHY, Vienna, Austria) ; Biasini, Maurizio (INFN, Perugia, Italy) ; Bilei, Gian Mario (INFN, Perugia, Italy) ; Bisello, Dario (INFN, Padova, Italy) ; Cecchetti, S (INFN, Perugia, Italy) ; Creanza, Donato (INFN, Bari, Italy) ; Dierlamm, Alexander (IEKP Universitat Karlsruhe (TH), Germany) ; Dirkes, Guido (IEKP Universitat Karlsruhe (TH), Germany) ; Fano, Livio (INFN, Perugia, Italy) et al.
Different CMS silicon microstrip detectors equipped with the APV6, APV25S0 or APV25S1 readout chips have been exposed to a 350 MeV/c pion or proton beam at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI, Villigen, CH). We compare the performance of irradiated and non-irradiated silicon sensors as well as the APV6 and APV25 behavior. [...]

Single event upset studies on the CMS tracker APV25 readout chip
/ Noah, E ; Bauer, T ; Bisello, D ; Faccio, F ; Friedl, M ; Fulcher, J R ; Hall, G ; Huhtinen, M ; Kaminski, A ; Pernicka, Manfred (HEPHY, Vienna, Austria) et al.
The microstrip tracker for the CMS experiment at the CERN Large Hadron Collider will be read out using APV25 chips. During high luminosity running the tracker will be exposed to particle fluxes up to 10**7 cm**-**2 s**-**1, which raises concerns that the APV25 could occasionally suffer Single Event Upsets (SEUs). Study of radiation damage and substrate resistivity effects from beam test of silicon microstrip detectors using LHC readout electronics
/ Angarano, Matteo Maria (INFN Perugia and Univ., Bari, Italy) ; Beaumont, Willem ; Brunetti, Maria Teresa ; Civinini, Carlo ; Coughlan, John A ; De Palma, Mauro ; Drouhin, Frédéric ; French, Marcus ; Fürtjes, A ; Biasini, Maurizio (INFN and University of Bari, Bari, Italy and INFN and University of Perugia, Perugia, Italy) et al.
We present the beam test results of single-sided silicon microstrip detectors, with different substrate resistivities. The effects of radiation damage are studied for a detector irradiated to a fluence of 2.4 multiplied by 10**1**4 n/cm**2. [...]

APV logic simulations
/ Marinelli, Nancy (Imperial College, London, UK)
The amount of data in the CMS inner tracker system at the LHC interaction rate is so large that it cannot be read out at each bunch crossing. A pipeline memory is then needed to store the data at the front-end level until a Level 1 Trigger accept signal marks the interesting data which will then be read out. [...]
