Metacategory constraints
[edit]Conflicts with instance of (P31) : Wikimedia meta category (Q30432511) deleted because it means that The metacategory contains sub- metacategories OR categories which contains classes stated in category contains (P4224) Here.--Avatar6 (talk) 00:36, 11 September 2018 (UTC)
This is not what this property is used for
[edit]There is extensive usage of using it to describe what the list contains.. so much so that Reasonator will show what should be in the list from a Wikidata point of view. Thanks, GerardM (talk) 08:41, 21 May 2020 (UTC)
Unclear relationship with category's main topic (P301)
[edit]It is not very obvious to me when one should use this property vs. category's main topic (P301). I see that one of the Wikidata property example (P1855) used in the latter is Category:Ungulates (Q4333), which has the following two statements:
- Category:Ungulates (Q4333)category's main topic (P301)ungulate (Q1231177)
- Category:Ungulates (Q4333)category contains (P4224)taxon (Q16521)
...which may help illustrate the difference, so I went ahead and added that very same item as an example for this property as well; but it still feels a bit fuzzy, so ideally there should be a disambiguation in the form of Wikidata usage instructions (P2559) added to both properties. Can anyone help with a proposed wording for those? --Waldyrious (talk) 22:40, 10 November 2024 (UTC)
