To whom it may concern,

It is without hesitation and with great pleasure that I write to you today regarding Nahid
Sultana who is applying to Ph.D. program in Biomedical engineering at your prestigious
institution. I have been a Teacher of Zoology , and Nahid Sultana is one of the most
promising students that I have had the pleasure of working with.

I am writing to you in support of Nahid Sultana Student and her desire to attend Graduate
School University for the Biomedical engineering program. Though many students ask me to
make this request on their behalf, I only recommend students whom I feel are well-suited for
the program of their choice. Nahid Sultana is one of those students and therefore, I highly
recommend that she be given the opportunity to attend your university.
Nahid Sultana excelled in co-curricular activities.

Throughout the period she has been in this college, she has been actively involved in
various volunteering programs. She is also an outstanding sportsperson and has
represented our college in various competitive tennis and music competitions and has won
many awards. In addition to her great academic performance, Nahid Sultana has an
outstanding ability to connect with other students and work closely with them to complete
various tasks assigned. She was extremely organised, reliable, and a great team player. She
also has great communication skills (both written and verbal).
If your education program is looking for unrivalled applicants with a record of
accomplishment, Nahid Sultana is a brilliant decision. I have absolutely no reservations
about recommending Nahid Sultana for the Ph.D. program in Biomedical engineering. I
have no doubt she will uphold the standards of the Master's degree program in Biomedical
engineering at the School of Engineering and Applied Science at Columbia University and
become a shining member of your community. Please feel free to contact me if you have any
questions regarding her character, past academic work, or any other qualifications related to
the Ph.D. program.
It is hard to overstate the meaningful contributions that Nahid Sultana has made to our
college and surrounding community. As both her Zoology teacher, I've had the pleasure of
seeing Nahid Sultana make profound contributions both in and out of the classroom. Her
school and community service is motivated by a strong sense of social justice, which she
informs through a nuanced and sophisticated understanding of historical trends and events. I
can say with confidence that Nahid Sultana is one of the most caring and driven students
I've ever taught in college.

She has an inquisitive mind and good interpretation abilities that will greatly facilitate
research work at your university. An intelligent and hardworking student, Nahid Sultana has
a natural inclination for research. This inclination stems from her curious bent of mind and a
nature for questioning. She has the ability to voice her ideas clearly, which greatly enhances
her expressiveness in solving doubts when approached by fellow students. Her extreme
interest, persistent attitude and intellectual curiosity drive her to get deeply involved in her
work and excel in it..Her ability to perform under stress and meet difficult deadlines is also
commendable. In the technical areas, the precision and timely deliveries importance is
personified in her. She has the ability to create and innovate the existing ideas and rules but
this requires polishing of her skills and deeper knowledge in the subject area with
multidimensional tasks. For this, it is important for her to do her study of Zoology that can
enhance her capabilities and provide ample opportunities to grow and experiment in the
given area.

I sincerely feel that she is the most deserving candidate to get admission to an institute that
can offer her betterment for herself, the subject, and the community at once. If she will get
this opportunity to learn the subject matter in diverse experiential ways, she may come out
with some innovations that this subject needs for a long time.
Nahid Sultana developed and refined her research proposal on Zoology. No honours student
that I have worked with, let alone a sophomore, has developed a research idea, and then set
up the appropriate field work with comparable skill and determination.

Nahid Sultana used her junior year to do advanced graduate coursework on comparative
methods. She then spent the summer conducting interviews and doing archival research.
And what a trove of material she has developed! Rich, sensitive, and theoretically revealing
interviews that demonstrate her grasp of the material and ability to connect with her subjects.
I expect her thesis to make important academic contributions to our notions of identity and its
importance to politics as well as substantive contributions to our understanding of politics in
regions plagued by years of conflict. My hope is that she will continue to mine her material
and push her ideas in advanced academic work.
Nahid Sultana is impressive and growing more so each year. Her academic work is
excellent: she writes well, she offers valuable and at times exceedingly insightful comments,
she is always prepared, and on group projects she elevates the performance of those
around her. But without doubt her finest academic achievement is the honours thesis she is
now writing. I believe it will be among the best we have seen here in the last ten years, and
we produce an average of eight to ten of these a year.

But to fully appreciate Nahid Sultana you need to go far beyond her intellectual abilities. She
is a force on campus and outside, but one who tends to work within rather than outside the
system.Nahid Sultana is responsible, organised, articulate, exceedingly driven, and
personable. Other students defer to her judgement and arguments. I chose her to serve on
my undergraduate committee, which is engaged in an overhaul of our curriculum, for all
these reasons. But I have been pleasantly surprised by her work on the committee because
of the extent to which she has been such a forceful advocate for students’ interests. This is
not the easiest thing to do—to tell three professors what they should be doing. From the first
day, however, Nahid Sultana demonstrated the role she would play, and we quickly came to
rely upon her as a vital participant in our deliberations.

I should note one or two other aspects of Nahid Sultana personality and character as well, in
that they are so public and striking. First, she is aware and involved with contemporary
politics, in particular issues important to youth. Her work to promote voting among college
students, her web broadcasts of the conventions and her recent involvement with the World
Summit all demonstrate, to me, that she has her finger on the pulse of the college campus,
increasingly international youth as well. This is an essential part of how she defines her
leadership skills.
