It’s with my very great pleasure to write this recommendation for Shahd Emad to support her
application for admission into your university. Shahd has a deep passion for math and technology and
has been one of the few exceptionally gifted students that I have encountered in my career as a math
teacher. From the first day of class, Shahd impressed me with her innovative approach to solving
problems, her creativity, and her analytical thought which is quite rare among high school students.

I first encountered Shahd when she was in her freshman year in my math class. She was one of
the top excelling students among the students that I taught during this academic year. As a freshman
student, she worked very well with others and mastered the concepts studied in trigonometry, statistics,
modeling with geometry, and functions. She showed how she was extremely passionate, enthusiastic,
and creative by taking the concepts she studied beyond the theoretical limit and integrating them into
art to make impressive projects of art by functions graphing on “desmos”. She scored the highest grades
in math in her school. To fulfill her passion for math and her desire to challenge herself, she participated
in many scientific contests and she scored the highest marks in grade 10 in the international Kangaroo
mathematics contest.

She co-founded a local community organization called (JTS) to help STEM seekers in the
acceptance exams, and as a math mentor and a leader for the mathematics department, I have found
Shahd to be an intelligent, conscientious, motivated, and responsible student who masters theory and
applies it well. She spent extra time studying independently to cover all the topics she will represent in
her sessions. She often sought additional instruction at lunchtime or after school during which she asked
questions and asked for additional resources to extend her knowledge. I oversee her high capability to
explain and instruct, and her ability to grab the attention of her audience which qualifies her to be very
successful as a public speaker. Her achievements in this team showed her great eagerness to give back
to her community and her commitment to helping students who are passing by the same experience she
went through, and proved her mastery of mathematics as well.

Shahd academically excelled among her peers, often explained concepts to confused classmates,
actively participated during discussions, asked questions to ensure she has a firm understanding of the
concepts, and sought additional sources for supplementary problem-solving exercises. She shows high
flexibility to work with all students in her class and she often leads her group during activities and she
cooperates nicely with others. She often led argumentative discussions and had analytical answers to
math prompts that show her deep understanding and analytical thinking. Shahd is a self-motivated,
dedicated, diligent, and resourceful student of high intelligence who can grasp difficult concepts, think
critically, and handle the rigor of a competitive college environment. She exhibits the qualities of a
leader and promising scientist who have a strong passion for science and technology. I can assure she
will be a breakthrough in her field of study and a significant leader in her career in technology.

Shahd truly impresses me with her active seeking for new experiences which supports her love
for math and technology. This past summer, she was a participant in two scholarships sponsored by the
ministry of communications and information technology of Egypt during which she got a Nano degree in
web development and data analysis, she was also a participant in the Girls Who Code summer program
about web development. She eventually talks to me about her advancement in learning programming
languages and exploring the various disciplines of technology and programming. She is absolutely an
amazing self-learner, independent, ambitious, and insightful student who is always seeking
improvement and growth and looking forward to the best.

Besides her academic excellence, Shahd is a charismatic person who is respected and liked by
her teachers and peers. Throughout her high school years, Shahd often stopped by my room during
lunchtime to take my math exams to test her general math or discuss a math concept she wants to
deepen her understanding of it, she also often stopped by my room during lunchtime or after school to
chat about her latest developments, events in school, and other various topics. She has a maturity level
beyond her years and one of the qualities that I admire about her is her true Commitment and sincerity
in anything she works on. She doesn’t want just to get the work done, she does her work from all her
heart and puts all her effort into whatever she’s doing to make sure she reaches the best output she can
and she is a vital member of all that she is a part of. She interacts well with her peers in class and she is
also open to interacting with the broader diverse student population, where she is well-known as a
balanced person who has a warm personality and a special sense of humor and always takes the
initiative to help anyone who needs help. She organizes her time well by excelling in a heavy course load
filled with advanced classes besides participating in various school and community activities, including
our school’s academic teams which provide a structural yet fun forum for competition and learning.
Shahd is a well-rounded person who enjoys a challenge.

Overall, Shahd exhibits the qualities of a leader as well as a great scientist who excels
academically and has a competitive and challenging personality. She is an intelligent, well-rounded, and
grounded individual who challenges herself and always seeks new experiences and opportunities. She
has the determination, maturity, and capability to succeed in every endeavor and always maintains a
positive attitude. Her academic and personal achievements show that she is committed to her education
and will hard work to achieve her dreams. She exudes confidence and has a vivid, energetic, and friendly
personality that allows her to get along with others very well. I admire her for her intelligence, integrity,
honesty, insight, and compassion for others. She’s a highly motivated person with a thirst for
knowledge. Shahd Emad would truly be a superior addition to your university.
