Eligibility

Discover Library Items

Use the SearchWorks library catalog to find items available at Stanford. View a list of equipment (Stanford GSB Faculty, Students, and Staff only). Browse Course Reserves, which are materials instructors set aside for Stanford GSB courses.

View typical loan periods to see how long you can check items out for.

Request Items for Pickup

Some library items can be requested for pickup at various libraries on campus. If an item is available in another location and doesn’t have a request button, you will need to go to that library to locate it and check it out. Stanford GSB Faculty can request we deliver items to you campus workspace with Document Delivery.

Not Available in SearchWorks

Find the item in SearchWorks and use the Request button. You typically have two options (options may vary by affiliation):

  • “Wait for a Stanford copy“ - note that we don’t know how long this will take.

  • “Expedite a copy from a partner library” - we try to get a copy for you quickly, often by borrowing it from another library for you. Sometimes we will “recall” the item if it is currently checked out to someone, which means they will need to return it within 7 days, so that you can use it.

Renew Library Items

Most items can be renewed. Exceptions are reserves and equipment items, and items that have been put on hold or recalled by another patron.

Renewal limits vary by item and affiliation.

Return Library Items

Drop off items in the library or if we’re closed, in the book return outside of the Bass Center. You can return items to any other library or book return box on campus. Course reserves must be returned back to the i-Desk.
