A forming coastal low, an advancing upper-level disturbance and an abundance of cold air is expected to bring heavy snow, sleet and maybe freezing rain to Galveston County overnight Monday and into Tuesday.

Hurricane Milton rapidly intensified into a Category 5 storm over the southern Gulf of Mexico with sustained winds of 165 mph. The system weakened somewhat overnight as a process called “eyewall replacement,” which saw the clear eye virtually disappear for a period.
Tropical Depression No. 14 was upgraded to Tropical Storm Milton shortly after noon today.
