Usage is very easy because this platform has simplified user interface. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Ease of implementation of end to end encryption for mails not achieved in all cases because all receivers of sent email also need to have a protonmail account. Cloud storage provided by this platform us very less compared to other email service providers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Protonmail gives full privacy to its users by not accessing or not reading their emails content by employing end to end encryption. Protonmail includes VPN, Calender services in it premium membership plans. Users also able to change background theme of inbox of protonmail. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Protonmail doesn't give much cloud space in its free plan and only gives 500MB of storage space initially. Remaining 500MB is unlocked if users set their protonmail email id as their social media login id. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Protonmail gives secure end to end encryption for emails. Proton also has calender and VPN services in its suit of services for easier integration with mail service. We can also easily sends attachments with large size via email. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Protonmail only gives storage option upto 5GB and only can be increased by selecting paid subscription plans. End to end encryption feature may not be fully implemented when we are sending email to other email platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The best thing about Protonmail is its reliability. Data security and encryption were key factors in our choice of Protonmail for our business and personal email accounts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It lacks a few features, like filtering out the promotional emails into a separate tab automatically. The user has to manually push such emails into the promotions tab. It must be automated! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Proton mail gives better encryption to our emails than other email service providers. It has a feature to integrate inbox of Gmail by forwarding. It also provides free subscription plan to its users. Proton mail also provides good user interface. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Proton mail is only secure when the other recepient also uses proton mail platform. The payment options for paid subscription is very few only and difficult for user to get subscription. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Proton Mail is merely one of the services provided by Proton, in fact, it should be considered as a solution for data transmitting and message communication. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Product KB is not up-to-date therefore it may decrease the user-experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Proton Mail is the best way to not worry about searching if your email has been compromised, if others see your conversations, or if your content is unsafe overall. It's also a beautiful part of an ever-increasing family of software, from Proton Drive and so on. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
With daily use comes a baggage of content, which sometimes can take a while to load. Proton Mail does its best with a simple and intuitive UI but struggles with loading big chunks of emails and conversations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The end to end encryption , best in class for privacy and security.
We have been using protonmail for quite a while for our work email mainly due to its security.
The UI is simplistic which makes it perfect. It has all the feature you would need for an email service provider. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
nothing specific i can think of other than the high price for the premium feature. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's super easy to create a busines email. I found a lot of the other ones put you through a hassle or a ton of other steos. This one you can have it up and going in almost seconds. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Not many downsides maybe a bit more organization tools but all in all I think it's a great product. I really am happy with it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's security features. It's the main thing that made me try it out in the first place. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Its user interface is not as intuitive as others out there. I found myself overlooking some buttons and/or icons often. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Ease of setup and account transfer from another provider. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Everything looks bright from a distance but breaks down when used in heavy conditions
1) It Seems that proton client can handle 20--40'000 messages; if you have much more, most of the functions fail - Mobile client takes 3-5min to open; the search typically does not return all results; even the total number of messages shows different numbers each time
2) Calendar can be shared to 5 people max; Calendar entries are not reliable
3) Only 50 fixed messages in a window are allowed. No option to change the number. No chance to compose outside of that window etc... Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What I like about Protonmail and makes it a great choice for email is its security and privacy offering end-to-end encryption allowing me to send these encrypted emails to my clients. I paid to register and integrate the messaging functionality with my domain which I find interesting and useful. I also have ProtonDrive, ProtonVPN and ProtonCalendar which are all secure. I now send my invoices securely without fear of them being intercepted or tampered with. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
For the most part, customer service is excellent. But when you have a problem, you find that there is no phone support. When you submit a bug report, you'll get a response, and usually a technician will respond by email within 24 hours. But if the problem is not resolved immediately, then one email response per day seems to be the most they will do. A problem that is not easily resolved can take days. The best encrypted mail system that is on the network, as a frequent customer my security and above all my privacy is paramount and important therefore I require a system that gives me the best of security and privacy in which there will not be any kind of leaks and for that protonmail was created, since I use it I could notice that I definitely feel safer, not to mention its interface and multiple and varied features which make it a high security service but also comfortable and practical. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
All the features that the other messaging services have, Protonmail has them too and much more so I am not displeased and have no negative outlook on the service at this time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The ease and speed with which files are uploaded and shared is simply spectacular, it is also incredibly striking that the files can not be displayed without first being approved by the user is a way to protect the integrity of my projects that I find ingenious and intelligent, and since it also has implemented a vpn makes it a very good choice for sending files to clients. That most of the valuable resources that differentiate it from other encrypted email apps are found in the paid version that, compared to the competition, is relatively expensive.
It should be noted that if you forget your email password and change it, the encrypted emails will no longer be able to open them, and although it sounds pretty attractive, in terms of security, it can be not very pleasant. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I love how it gives you the option to encrypt an email to someone who isn't on Proton. The self-destruct option is also very cool. I also love the ability to unsubscribe from a mailing list without having to click anything in the email. But more than anything, the software doesn't get in the way of your usual workflows. Their feedback page is clunky as all hell. Also, the filter and folder setups definitely feel like they're more cumbersome than they need to be. I'd also like to see a bit more automation, but then again that would require Proton to be able to access the email text. If there was a way to introduce that without compromising security, though, I'd be even more thrilled! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It is a very fantastic platform with excellent and straightforward UI. It is clear to operate and somewhere similar to Zimbra Mail. It has good privacy and security features. The best thing is that it is customizable, and we can edit the dashboard as we want with colors we like. The messages and emails are safe within its encrypted service. This platform is secure, but it would be more remarkable if it had 2FA, which will make it more secure than other mailing services. The support team is not much action, as they do not respond reasonably, and solving issues takes time. Also, the dashboard design is old and simple. It needs some good and attractive looks. ProtonMail is the most secure and encrypted email service which allows me to send highly encrypted confidential or personal emails. Besides the mail feature, they are also beta testing some other features like calendar, drive to make Proton an all-in-one service and integrate everything into one account. They have also a free package that allows other users to enjoy their encrypted mail for free. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
They should make their app settings more user-friendly and categorized so that users can find every setting easily. Also, the automatically generated "sent with ProtonMail" signature should be removed to make the emails more beautiful. I hope the team will work on it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Protonmail offers an encrypted, safe e-mail service for private users and businesses. We use it for both my companies (consultancy, NGO) and have been a paid user for over two years now- other e-mail providers did not have encryption, and provided less safety. In this time, protonmail has rolled out new features, such as a storage and a calendar function. My interns like the storage function best, and also use the calendar function. I had a few troubles finding certain functions like payments etc. in the old version of protonmail, this has improved. It is still difficult to set up new domains, but- on the plus side- their support team will be fast to respond and helpful in solving the issue. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Proton Mail is, of course, an encrypted email service, but it's growing into a secure all-in-one solution. They offer encrypted email, their own vpn software, email alias', and are beta testing encrypted file storage and calendar services. The best part is that there is a free version with limited features, not a trial to keep track of. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I haven't found anything thus far that I dislike. Instead, I'm impatient to see how the company will continue to develop their "ProtonMail Bridge" software, which is for the secure connection and import of one's ProtonMail email to an outside software, such as Microsoft Outlook (the stand-alone version, not web-based). Protonmail offers extra security to our mailbox with additional mailbox password feature. This protects my emails all the time like it's a dual security to my emails. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The pricing. Free plan offers only 500MB storage and 150 messages per day for sending. This is very pricey and they should increase their storage capacity for free plans to at least 5GB. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Its graphical interface is very intuitive, following the patterns of other mail services, so its use is quite comfortable. The best thing is how secure the communication is; being encrypted it has kept my information out of the reach of any attacker. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Some functions and settings are hard to find, if it was a little more organized it would be perfect. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I use proton email because of how secure the server is. The platform is also easy to use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I wish the new proton drive allowed you to create files rather than just store them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Protonmail offers users a plethora of fantastic features which competitors just cannot seem to match from numerous perspectives, whether it be email encryption, interface simplicity, ease of use, and pricing. When it comes to email encryption, Protonmail is second to none, as it prevents anyone from hacking into your sent or received messages. This makes Protonmail a perfect email service for both professional and personal users alike, as sensitive business, financial, and familial information, (among other forms of information ), will not become exposed to unwanted guests, and that adds piece of mind to users of Protonmail like myself. Interface simplicity is a very big plus as well, as the portal on which email exchanges take place is not filled with any unnecessary clutter such as advertisements or buttons/links which serve little to no purpose. While the interface itself is very organized and simple to the eye, that does not take away from its exceptional features and functionalities, such as the ability to create customized folders for easy access to important emails as well as the ability to mark these folders using colored tabs, in addition to a number of other very convenient features for ease of use, which leads me to my next point. Based on past experiences, I have found that nearly anyone can get a hold of and understand the ins and outs of Protonmail when it comes to its functionalities, features, and how to use them in a relatively short manner. I say this particularly because one of my coworkers, who isn’t very tech-savvy, (to say the least), was able to obtain a solid grasp of Protonmail and how to make use of most of its features in a quick fashion, (a fashion very much unlike what it takes for that particular coworker to learn other softwares based on previous software trainings). As such is the case, Protonmail makes for a great email service for anyone, ranging from those who are new to email, (including young children), to those who have had years of experience using email and who might want to transition to a simpler and more secure experience. Lastly, I also feel that it is appropriate to mention the cost, or in some cases the lack thereof, of the Protonmail service. For basic users who are interested in a relatively small email storage space, the service is entirely free, which is exceptional, especially when considering the fact that advertisements are absent even in the free version. While the free version of the service usually suffices for most users, those who need extravagant amounts of email storage can opt-in to the paid version of the service, which charges very reasonable rates when considering competitor pricing and the overwhelming feature and functionality availability on Protonmail. Overall, I find Protonmail to be a great email provider, and would undoubtedly recommend it to anyone who might be interested in giving it a try. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
After giving it much thought, I really could not come up with any negative comments about Protonmail besides the fact that sometimes incoming email push notifications are delayed by a couple of minutes on a smartphone. While this is a very small bug that I am sure can be worked on and ultimately fixed, it does on rare occasions lead to a bit of frustration when someone is waiting for a timely/important email. As a result of this bug, it would require the receiver of such an email to manually refresh the Protonmail inbox to see if anything has been received, in order to avoid a potential push notification delay of up to three to four minutes. I also think that adding an additional layer of security upon entry into the mobile app can be a good feature, as it would only contribute towards the betterment of the already secure nature of the service. I think that this layer of security can come in the form of a four digit pin, Touch ID, Face ID, etc. Outside of these two very minor aspects of Protonmail which can be worked on for further improvement, I really cannot point out anything else as a negative, which is a very good sign for potentially interested users.
