From the book Die römischen Repertorien

Abstract

The aim of this contribution is to link „Repertorium Poenitentiariae Germanicum“ (RPG) with historical databases and to investigate the resulting research potential of these combined resources. Looking at various case studies of the petitioners who turned to the Penitentiary, it can be shown that they are also to be found in other written and representational sources, such as grave plates. The databases containing these historical source materials make additional biographical information on the petitioners readily accessible, significantly enriching the rather selective information of the Penitentiary’s registers. In this way, the contents of RPG can be brought into a fruitful relationship with other databases.
