Jordan Chiles returns to gymnastics action at UCLA after Olympics heartbreak

Four months after being forced to relinquish her bronze medal from the Paris Olympics, Team USA star gymnast Jordan Chiles returned to collegiate competition over the weekend for UCLA.

UCLA gymnastics held their annual 'Meet The Bruins' preseason event on Saturday, showcasing the roster for the season ahead.

Chiles headlines the Bruins lineup, returning to UCLA with two more years of eligibility after opting out of the 2024 season to train for the Olympics.

Chiles won her first gold medal as part of the Team USA in Paris and also temporarily took home an individual bronze in the floor exercise.

She lost her individual medal after an appeal from Romania. Since then, Chiles has appeared at several high-profile events around the country, including Saturday's meet in Los Angeles.

'I'm so excited, I honestly missed Pauley (Pavilion) so much,' Chiles said during the meet. 'Being a Bruin has meant everything to me. So its good to be back, your girl is back!'

Chiles is only 23 and has not declared her intentions for the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028. Chiles will be 27 if she competes at the next Olympiad to be held in the United States, the same age Simone Biles was this summer.

Biles is the only member of this summer's Team USA gymnastics who has not, or will not, compete at the college level.

Suni Lee was at Auburn, Jade Carey is one of the integral members of Oregon State's squad, and Hezly Rivera is committed to LSU.

Chiles spoke to what from her French experience she could bring to the Bruins this season.

'Honestly, I think just being able to have that atmosphere that we did on the team in Paris and bringing it here to Pauley is going to be really fun,' Chiles said. 'Just enjoying the moment and making memories, I think that's the best thing to do.'

'I honestly missed every single girl on this team and being able to be a huge inspiration to them and also being bale to be teammates. It's really cool, Fours up all the way and UCLA is my ride or dies.'

Gymnastics fans that want to follow Chiles in between Olympiads will hear plenty more of 'fours up', a phrase heard a Bruins' sporting events representing the four letters of UCLA.
