US blocks subsidies for Albemarle lithium made in Australia
New York-listed Albemarle says the lithium it mines and processes in Australia does not qualify for billions of dollars in US subsidies in a major blow to the future of its downstream operations in WA.
Albemarle said the inability to access subsidies under the Inflation Reduction Act had been a major factor in its decision to slash its workforce and curtail investment in WA.
