Green Tender Convoy

From Transformers Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search
Green Tender Convoy is a Warrior of the Seven Lights from the Precursor World portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

The nature-loving Green Tender Convoy (グリーン慈愛なる司令官 (コンボイ) Gurīn Jiainaru Konboi, lit. "Affectionate Commander Green")[1] has been blessed with a role in the Primus Vanguard that truly suits him: the defence of the plants and animals of the Green Planet, assisted by his Green Order. His greatest duty, however, is his guardianship of the life-giving Green Matrix.

We ultimately decided against translating it as "Daddy Convoy".

Chosen to bear the Green Matrix and lead the Green Order in their defense of the universe of Green Star Power, Green Tender Convoy fought in the Primus Vanguard's final battle against their ancient enemy the Specters for the fate of their multiverse. When White Gallant Convoy proposed unleashing the power of all of their matrices to defeat the Specters once and for all, he expressed misgivings that they could destroy their entire reality in the process. Blue Big Convoy, evidently a superior student of cosmology, assured Tender that their universes would simply merge. Tender reluctantly unleashed the power of his Matrix alongside the rest of Vanguard command and Blue's words proved true as their seven united Star Powers both eradicated the Specters and knitted their multiverse into a single, multicolored world.

Tender attended a subsequent conference of Primus Vanguard command to discuss the new threat of the Vok. At the close of the meeting Primus resolved to scry into the future and whatever he saw led him to hole himself up in his quarters for some time until he burst into the hallways of their headquarters, exclaiming that his pet Primacron had escaped and rambling to his generals about how he needed all of their Matrices immediately so that he could end the universe. An alarmed Tender left with his comrades as the Vanguard commanders left Primus to ravings and returned to their respective planets, save an impassive Blue. Finale Prelude

Tender was enjoying the natural splendor of the Green Planet with the rest of his Order when he received a telepathic message from Primus, warning that they would shortly be under attack following the destruction of the Blue Order. However, when their foe arrived it wasn't Ultra Megatron as expected, but an Angolmois-empowered Sea Phantom. Tender swore to protect the plants, animals, and Green Matrix alike. As Sea Phantom was later seen with said Matrix, the fight clearly didn't go well. God Neptune comic 1

Tender wasn't out of the running just yet, as along with Yellow Splendid Convoy and Black Go Prime he flew into space to restrain God Neptune after a surprise attack by the phantom Blue Big Convoy. Though they had the combiner on the ropes long enough for White Convoy Grand Prime to begin his attack, Tender was sent flying with the others when God Neptune drew his Neptune Sword and subsequently expired. God Neptune comic 2 His spirit still continued on, and assisted in fighting back against Primacron within Neo Primus with the equally ethereal Black Prime and Yellow Convoy in defense of their disgraced master.

Green Megatron sought to take Green Tender Convoy's position as representative of the Green Light, but he ended up being possessed by the benevolent Megatron from the G1 World's 2050. This Megatron would go on to represent the Green in Magna Convoy's Primus Vanguard. Finale

Off to burn down Nerv headquarters.
  • Beast Tracker Optimus Prime (Weaponizer, 2013)
    • Accessories: Rifle, Dragon Sword
Beast Tracker Optimus Prime was repurposed as Green Tender Convoy in "God Neptune comic 1".
A redeco of Prime: Robots in Disguise Weaponizer Optimus Prime, this figure swaps out the red plastics with forest green, has new green paint applications on his torso, loses the electronics, and gains an additional "Dragon Sword" accessory, a slightly smaller version of the Ultimate Class Beast Hunter Optimus Prime's "Dragon-hunting sword".
His stock photography is mistransformed, as his back kibble is not resting on his back, but rather fanned out.

Notes

  • While all the Primus Vanguard commanders have pretty fancy names, Green's takes the cake, with jiainaru being an adjective derived from a word meaning "parental affection". We've chosen to translate it as "Tender" as a reflection of his affectionate and tender attitude towards his animal friends.[2]

References

  1. The Primus Vanguard utilize an elaborate form of Japanese wordplay to impart a sort of "B-side" moniker. In this case the title "Affectionate Commander Green" is read as the name "Green Tender Convoy." See the Japanese language article for further details on how this works.
