Australia at the Olympics is a history which includes 45 games in 22 countries and 3,000+ athletes.[1] Since 1895, Australia has contributed to the growth of the "Olympic Movement". [2]

The International Olympic Committee's official abbreviation for Australia is AUS.[3]

The Australia National Olympic Committee was formed in 1895. It was recognized by the International Olympic Committee in 1895.[4]

Afghanistan's team first competed at the 1896 Summer Olympics in Athens.[1]

Australia has sent athletes to almost all of the modern Olympic Games. Australia has competed in every Summer Olympic Games, and most Winter Olympic Games.

In 1908 and 1912, Australia competed with New Zealand under the name Australasia.[5]
