BTW if the new version comes out, you can keep this old one and get the new one for free (for owners of the old one). So maybe wait for the new version first, if its worth the changes. Just a suggestion.

I don’t actually know. Maybe you have to run it once with internet connection (right after downloading the game) to verify it? Steam allows for offline play, but not sure if the game allows that. I’ll test it quickly with disabling my internet connection for a second… don’t go away, wait a moment…
So yes, you have to run the game once and connect first, then you can play without internet connection.
Note, this is the old version on Steam that will be renamed to 2013 Edition on Steam.

Thanks, but I would make my own mind about the game. There are lot of games others like, which I do not, and the other way too. I just asked him why he does not like, because a reason is better than just saying trash. This is no useful information to me. Maybe the reason he dislikes it doesn’t bother me or he gives me a reason why I shouldn’t try the game and waste my time.

I think it looks interesting. Its one of the games I want to play, if i find time.

Why did you regret playing Starfield?
I thought this would be about the Ai generated games, that has no code and runs like a video. Can we speak about software, if there is no code?

The mods required to get it playable on PC nowadays are honestly not worth the effort.
Hmm, the Steam version works out of the box without mods. Its a good version to play, besides the online server requirements bullshit. I assume the new version will be based on the later released updated version on PS4 in 2015 and Switch on 2019.

Yeah, I was surprised that FF7 was not included, but 8 and 9 are. This re-release could be part of reworking whatever is needed to release on GOG. Also 6 is missing for some unknown reason.

The original is dated graphically, but you gotta realize it was basically the first ever cinematic game of its kind.
And the game shipped on 3 CDs. Kids these days don’t know we had to change disks mid gameplay. :D For us in Germany FF7 was even the first Final Fantasy we got ever as an official release! I played FF6 before and this new game with pre-rendered background, 3D battle graphics and CGI sequences was truly next gen. But at that time videogames were still for freaks in Germany and there was only a handful people playing RPGs.
Also I loved to search the internet in the local libraries computers for websites that lists data on the game, hunt hidden stuff and find animated GIFs to save them on my floppy disk… oh yes the floppy…

Although I wonder what the new version introduces…
My hope is, to get rid of the online service connection requirement. Right after the announcement, the game could not be started anymore. Hours later it worked again, but shows it depends on the servers of Square:

I say the Remake is basically a complete new game. It shouldn’t have been called Remake, but more like “Inspired by”. You don’t need to play the original game in my opinion, if you want to play the Remake. To me those are two separate games. And that comes from someone who says the original FF7 is the best videogame of all time.

So basically like any other forum. At least there is not much over moderation compared to Reddit or worse, Discord in example. I am reporting posts and comments all the time, and get messages from time to time that action has been done. I can see the accounts being banned (public info) and comments or posts being removed. But usually I am only active in forums with lot of activity, so not sure how this compares to less active communities. There is a screenshot of a confirmation reporting a discussion post:

They are mocking us.

But CS2 is basically Global Offensive. They “just” ported it over to the new engine. All items were kept and you didn’t need to buy your items again, as it is the same account. Overwatch 2 on the other hand changed the entire formula (5v5 instead 6v6) and introduced lot of new game types and modes. So it’s not exactly the same situation. Having said this, I wish Valve would have created a new game id and store page for the new version of the game. Such a shame.

I hate that shit. But there is actually a reason for. It’s part of their ongoing battle against cheaters or bad actors, as the game is free to play.

I play Marvel Rivals almost every day. Compared to Overwatch, it’s more casual and fun oriented, not that balanced at all. And its in third person, not first person. While Rivals has some Overwatch energy and can be played as a replacement, it is not a full replacement. And no other of these games will probably reach peak Overwatch and does not have the same charm.
BTW I recently installed Team Fortress 2 Classified, a mod that got its own Steam store page. It has lot of stuff from early TF2 days recreated and looks very interesting. Still need to try it out.

Not entirely the same, if the drivers are builtin into the Linux Kernel. I don’t know if the Steam Controller drivers will be Open Source, so maybe its the same.
The older videos explicitly tested early alpha and beta versions. Meanwhile it is already released as official version with their distribution. Off course there might be quirks (like KDE has in example), but its ready for productive use.
Well, you have to do it only once. You don’t need constant internet connection. I mean you need internet to download the game, so just run it once and then you can play it offline without internet or wifi.
