Tbf, I do feel spouses have a duty to hold eachother to a higher standard than friends do. For mutual improvement, growth, etc… And shared ownership/finances is huge. And often raising kids. Marriage is a lot more than just friendship, though that is a massively important part.

  • In my experience, it’s less PIP and more “let’s schedule daily check-in meetings and please send us hourly updates in Slack.”

The trick is to be overly communicative before it gets to that point and push back on things when you can. People are generally understanding, but watching time pass without having any clue what progress is being made is scary. Especially when there are important deadlines and you have no control over or insight into the project status. Quell those fears without impacting your productivity too much and everyone will be much happier.

Will someone please give me a step-by-step guide on how to make new friends under 60 and have consistent daily “human experiences” outside of a city center?

I’d love to give up my phone and possibly TV… if it everyone else does too so there are other humans to interact with. Society is in a depressing cath-22 of loneliness.

Though it can’t be impossible. Group hobbies, sports, etc exist. Just gotta pick one and go to meet ups. But phone is so much easier 🤤

  • My previous cat was absolutely terrified of the outdoors. She liked looking out of windows, but I walked her 5 feet out the front door once, holding her the entire time. Afterwards, she’d watch that door on alert while sitting with me on the couch rather than nap like she used to. Did that for a month or two at least, maybe longer.

Anecdotal, but sometimes cats and outdoors don’t mix. It’s never a necessity.

The rescue I use makes you sign a contract saying that the cats you adopt will be strictly indoor cats. It’s better for them, too, not just for the environment.
