Instructions

SUL finalization

If you are requesting a merge of a global account with one or more unconnected local accounts as part of finalizing your single unified login (SUL) username, please specify which wikis and accounts you want to merge into your global account. These accounts were typically named "account name~wikiname". Please note that we can only merge a local account into a global account when the global account has no edits on the same wiki as the local account.

How to add an entry here

To add an entry, please copy and paste the text below into the appropriate section.

=== Oldname ===
{{SRUC
|status = <!--don't change this line-->
|domain = global
|Oldname =
|Newname =
|reason = (your remarks here)
--~~~~
}}

Example

For global rename requests:

=== Example ===
{{SRUC
|status     = <!--don't change this line-->
|domain     = global
|Oldname    = Example
|Newname    = Foo
|reason     = your remarks here
--~~~~
}}

Making a request for your own account

For changing your username on one wiki:

Please include the following information in your request:

  • the old username,
  • the new username,
  • please sign ~~~~ request with your account for a simple move (first section), or sign this request with both the originating and the target accounts if you are requesting a merge (second section).

If anything is missing from your request, a steward will request more information. This helps ensure that you are requesting a rename for your own account. Please check before posting your request that the username you want is available. You can test that by going to the (new) user page and looking into the sidebar. If there is a link to user contributions, the account already exists, or check via Special:CentralAuth.

Private requests

Account renames are not private, once renamed many links from the old username to the new username will be permanently made. The reason submitted on the rename form (Special:GlobalRenameRequest) is private, and only visible by the renamers. Additional information that needs to be made in private may be sent using this direct wiki-email interface while logged-in.

Global requests

Two options exist for requesting renames

  1. Use the (new) request form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest; or
  2. Utilise the manual process outlined above, and submitted below in this section.

Please add new requests to this section. Sections should be titled your username@global if you wish to be globally renamed.

Your account is global now. Where did you get the message you need to rename ? 62.0.53.15 06:59, 18 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Your account is now global, see Special:CentralAuth/StreamingMeeMee. You can ignore the message that you got. Regards, --Stryn (talk) 09:04, 18 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Requests with usurps and complex renames

Local renames are no longer possible by local users as per gerrit:160158. Thus, this is to be done by stewards. Vogone (talk) 15:30, 15 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hi User:Chess. So you want your 123chess456 accounts on commons, simplewiki, simplewikt and wikidata to be renamed to "Chess"? --MF-W 15:50, 15 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I've usurped on enwiki, so please change all of my accounts that you are able to to "Chess". I will have to make an usurp request on every individual wiki? Chess (talk) 20:03, 15 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
There is not yet "global usurpation policy", so I guess you will have to request usurpation locally for now and the bureaucrats will have to ask Stewards to fulfill those local requests. –xeno 20:36, 15 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Per Xeno above, we can't start ignoring local usurpation guidelines, asking local bureaucrats for comment might indeed be the best solution, though we also have to keep in mind that this is atransitional period to SUL finalisation where all these accounts will be forcibly renamed. Done on es.wiki - as a local bureaucrat - and on enwikibooks and enwiktionary per previous precedents. Savhñ 20:53, 15 September 2014 (UTC) And some more (kawikibooks, trwikibooks, trwikiquote, mediawikiwiki, jawiki) based on previous precedents. Savhñ 21:37, 15 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Two issues should be separated here: 1.) The renaming of the remaining 123chess456 accounts who have edits to the new name; 2.) The renaming ("usurpation") of the unattached Chess accounts.
In order to solve 1.), I have just done the following renames: (so please visit Special:MergeAccount)
Chess@commons->Chess (self-usurped)@commons
123chess456@commons->Chess@commons
123chess456@simple->Chess@simple
123chess456@simplewikt->Chess@simplewikt
Chess@wikidata->Chess (self-usurped)@wikidata
123chess456@wikidata->Chess@wikidata
The only remaining 123chess456'es with edits are on Meta and enwiki. That is obviously unsolvable at the moment, maybe you will want to request a merge when that function exists. --MF-W 21:04, 15 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I've usurped all 0-edit Chess accounts and merged the frwiki accounts. —DerHexer (Talk) 16:39, 12 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
On hold until the merge function is available. Ajraddatz (talk) 22:47, 23 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Planning on using User:123chess456 as an alt account, for example, vanilla interface testing, insecure wifi, public computer terminals, etc. What I would like, is to usurp the remaining users. Chess (talk) 00:41, 9 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Chess, please clarify whether you want the edits from 123chess456 merged into your Chess account or not. For usurpation, please inform the users and hold a month. Savhñ 10:53, 7 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Galadrien@global

Uitgevoerd. Heb je een account op en.wiki die eventueel bij je globaal account toegevoegd moet worden? Savhñ 13:34, 16 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, user:Pepelikana on en.wp could be merged please, ty Pelikana (talk) 13:44, 16 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Pelikana, can you provide an edit with the Pepelikana@enwiki account, so we can confirm you own that account? Savhñ 13:52, 16 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
here you go and ty. Can i do a request for the separated wp.de:user here too? Pelikana (talk) 13:56, 16 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Xavax@global

Placing on hold pending the deployment of AccountMerge, since you have two global accounts and have contributed with both to commons and to other projects. I have updated the confirmation diff, since the one you provided was broken. Savhñ 10:44, 3 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

khaled@global

I have usurped all "Khaled" accounts without any live edits, so you should be able to edit all projects except de.wiki and fi.wiki with your "Khaled" account. I suggest you wait for SUL finalisation and the deployment of AccountMerge to merge these two. Alternatively, we could merge the accounts the old way (all individually) but that could lead to problems. Savhñ 14:13, 7 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Peka@jawiki and other 3 projects

 On hold @Pekachu: before we can do anything we require for you to make this account a global account. Please follow the link in your "My Preferences" to achieve this, and let us kn when that is done. We also require those accounts that are yours under the username "Peka" each are edited on their user or user talk pages by you so that we know that they are your accounts. On the edits, simply quote [[m:Special:PermanentLink/11066304]]. Thanks.  — billinghurst sDrewth 00:48, 25 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Tarenor@global

I have usurped the account on en.wiki. However, since AccountMerge is not deployed yet, we can't proceed to merge. Placing this request on hold. (Confirmation diff: cs.wiki) Savhñ 14:01, 22 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Account merging is currently not possible. Ruslik (talk) 20:01, 28 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

 awaiting global merge It was the solution suggested by a global renamer, to which no response was made. If you really want those 20+ edits then you will need to wait until global merge is available.  — billinghurst sDrewth 15:18, 31 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Aharon@global

Since you have contributed with both accounts on en.wiki, we'll need to wait for AccountMerge. To allow us to merge your accounts once AccountMerge is deployed, please access en:Special:MergeAccount while logged into your Aharon account to create a global account. Otherwise, we will not be able to perform the merge. Savhñ 20:18, 26 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I've completed the form on en:Special:MergeAccount to create a global account. There appear to be a number of other accounts named 'Aharon' on other wikimedia sites. These are not mine. (Only the 'Aharon' account on en.wikipedia.org is mine.) Thank you Savh. 24.165.97.140 17:14, 27 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Great. As soon as AccountMerge is available, the merge of these two global accounts will be completed. This is expected to be before april. (Confirmation diff) Savhñ 17:31, 27 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

My suggestion would be that you simply stop using the other account, otherwise, if you really want the two edits, then On hold,  awaiting global merge since you want your username to be the account with fewer edits. Pmlineditor (t · c · l) 17:19, 1 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
 awaiting global merge tool. Also noting the discussion is confirmed as being a pertinent merge request to be undertaken.  — billinghurst sDrewth 06:45, 8 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks to BD2412; I was just coming here to do this and found he had already done so. Please take this as confirmation. Do you want confirmation from w:User:Sam Blacketer as well? Fys (talk) 22:46, 11 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
On the assumption that you do, please take this as authorisation to merge Fys on en.wikiquote with this SUL account. Sam Blacketer (talk) 17:27, 23 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

ÖPNV-Bob l´éponge@global

You have two "old usernames"? Ruslik (talk) 20:08, 10 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, originally I was Bob l'éponge (can't spell it correctly with my phone), then I changed to ÖPNV-Bob l'éponge to emphasize that I'm interested in railway stuff (ÖPNV is German for public transport), but because I'm so stupid I didn't noticed when I logged in with the old name, leading to the 'reactivation' of that account. Later, I chose to rename me to U-Bahnfreund (metro friend), but again I sometimes forgot the rename, meaning ÖPNV-Bob l'éponge was also 'reactivated'. Lastly, in November, I think, I kinda didn't like that name anymore so I settled on Metrophil44. Fortunatly I already discovered my faults so I didn't reactivated that account too, so I just have to let the other two be merged with my real account. -- Metrophil44 (talk) 21:28, 10 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Currently no tools exist to perform such a complex account merge. Ruslik (talk) 07:34, 14 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Ruslik0: To simply it, it's ÖPNV-Bob l'éponge and Bob l'éponge → Metrophil44. That's not complex, is it? Or do you mean, that there's no merging tool at all (yet)-- Metrophil44 (talk) 18:23, 17 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Banjo@global (Usurp. request)

Done for all 0-edit accounts,  On hold for commons, cswiki, nlwiki and dawiki until the 7th April, where the users have been informed that they would be usurped in a month. The accounts on nowiki and itwiki have >100 edits, and though they have been informed of approaching finalisation and given the possibility to request a rename, they should not be usurped IMO (or else, they should be informed they will be usurped with a deadline).
