Addendum: I've just been told that there is still debate among Stewards about how to handle vandals who hijacked the same user account on multiple projects, so just for what it's worth I'm adding the other 17 accounts this vandal created under my name. On all 17 he has made just one edit (namely creating a userpage under my name and adding a German swearword to it). I would not mind taking over those edits if that made merging easier:

I think I've got this right. Just to be clear: ja:User:Hesperian is not me. It has 4 contributions, but I am unable to ask a local bureaucrat to perform the usurpation because I can't read a word of Japanese. Also, there is evidence that this user account was created solely to inconvenience me, as a petty act of revenge, so I am disinclined to treat it as a legitimate account.

My actual username on ja is Hesp.

At all the following wikimedia projects i am registered as user:JD_de (!). i couldn't register there as user:JD because of similarity to existing accounts of other people or because the account user:JD was already taken by somebody else. Done deleting the global account. As for user rename, local bureaucrats will have to do it. Using English should be fine, so at least try :). Hi, in setting up a unified login, I've become aware of a number of places where trolls have created accounts in my name (one of the penalties of being a fairly active vandal-fighting admin!). Can User:Arwel_Parry on the following sites please be deleted:

en.wiktionary.org - used in May 2003 and Nov 2007 to attack another admin.
fr.wikipedia.org - set up by notorious vandal "Michael" in Aug 2005 to comment on another users' page; blocked since Sep 2005.
mo.wikipedia.org - false user page created in Aug 2005, probably by "Michael".
pt.wikipedia.org - used once in Nov 2007 to upload an offensive image.

Unfortunately, the problem with this advice is that I don't speak, read, or write Portuguese or Moldovan (even if that one wasn't locked), and have no idea where even to find a bureaucrat on those wikis, even if I can open communications with them. 35 years after my school exams, my French isn't too hot either. Question prior to request

My SUL process failed for a good deal because of a massive identity theft that happened 2 years ago. See this explanation on a WP:en buraucrat talk page (further to that message, I could usurp on WP:en).

With the passing of time, I could usurp the most used of these accounts, and I left the rest to the SUL. Now the SUL is here, and I see that the issue is not solved.

There are some 40 fake Bradipus users out there, some without edition, some with 2 or 3 quick ones made in a couple of minutes (generally on December 4, 2006). I can give you the details if usefull. I have worked yesterday on 2 usurpations on franch projects, I have started the process on the german WP.

But honestly, I do not see me losing my time and, more important, the time of dozens of bureaucrats all over the WP galaxy to sort out the mess created by the worst vandal WP:fr ever had (see Vandalism reports/BogaertB for details about the guy). Isn't it just possible that I give you the account names and it is dealt with directly by a steward? Bradipus 20:27, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

It is, however, true that there are many cases of multiple-project identity theft. As part of the SUL initiative, we might consider a joint effort with all the local Bureaucrats, so that we can get a special dispensation to process such cases, where it is clearly identity theft performed in multiple projects, without the need of having the good-faith user contact God-knows-how-many local Bureaucrats and deal with the problem on a one-by-one basis.
We might create a SUL subpage and invite all the local Bureaucrats to present any opposition to this being allowed for SUL purposes only, and see if we can work something out. The interested party (the victim) would still have to present the evidence that the accounts are numerous (very important, otherwise the user can simply ask 1 or 2 local Bureaucrats and have it taken care of) and were all created as part of a vandal attack (identity theft), showing, for instance, that all of the accounts are inactive, or were used only a few times (usually for vandalism).
After all, if the process is made impossibly difficult due to vandalistic actions from the past, then the vandals eventually win out and, for the victims, it is as good as not having SUL at all. Just an idea. Redux 23:18, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

Please delete my global account, to finish usurping. I am a bureaucrat at he.wikisource and admin at wikisource.org.

There are accounts still in my name at cy.wikipedia.org, ro.wikipedia.org and vi.wikipedia.org. Each of them was created by me and has 0 or 1 edit but I cannot access them. Is it necessary to track down bureaucrats at those wikis to have those accounts usurped, or can that be done from here?

CMBJ

I would like to request that a steward grant unified login to my account(s) if possible. My apologies for making this request here, but a thorough search yielded no more suitable place to make this request.

As for the home account for them to be tied to, CMBJ @ en.wikipedia.org. I am an established contributor and to the best of my knowledge, already own CMBJ on every applicable Wikimedia project. Notes: I do know that this is typically reserved for Sysops, but seeing as I already have all of the accounts, it seems like a fair request in my opinion. You must be sysop to get a unified account and you have to do that yourself with Special:MergeAccount, so you will have to let yourself elected sysop on your home wiki or wait until SUL is opened to all users (which may come in days, weeks or months, nobody knows). --Thogo (talk) 20:52, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

A Notice about SUL

I have created my global account Chaos ..with some exceptions on some wiki cause of registration .. but I expected that this global account will prevent anybody from registering with the same name ... surprisingly before few days some one register with my username in sl.wp .. I tried to register with different pass in some wiki,s ..and it works .... that should be fixed or i will have to upsurp 20 accounts rather than 10 accounts after few monthes :) that makes no sense and let the SUL loses its real purpose ...what is the plan to deal with that ?? apparently u have to login once in some wiki with ur global account to register some login ..that what could prevent another guy from creating an account with ur name ... i hope that sul developed rapidly to check the SUL before it permits some guy from registration --Chaos 15:06, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
