Steward requests/Global permissions

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki
Shortcut:
SRGP
This page hosts requests for global permissions. To make a request, read the relevant policy (global rollback , global sysop , global rename , …) and make a request below. Explain why membership is needed for that group, and detail prior experience or qualifications.

This is not a vote and any active Wikimedia editor may participate in the discussion.

Global rollback and global interface editor requests require no fewer than 5 days of discussion while abuse filter helper and maintainer requests require no fewer than 7 days. Global renamer and global sysop requests require no fewer than 2 weeks of discussion. For requests that are unlikely to pass under any circumstances, they may be closed by a steward without further discussion (after a reasonable amount of input).

Requests for global rollback permissions

[edit]
Please be sure to follow the instructions below:
Your request might be rejected if you don't follow the instructions, and not doing so would reflect poorly on your suitability.
Please also review the Global rollback policy.
Instructions for making a request

Before requesting, make sure that: You have sufficient activity to meet the requirements to be allocated the global rollback flag

To make a request
Copy the template below to the bottom of this section and explain of why you need the access and why you're suitable.
=== Global rollback for {{subst:u|{{subst:REVISIONUSER}}}} ===
{{sr-request
 |status    = <!-- don't change this line -->
 |domain    = global <!-- don't change this line -->
 |user name = {{subst:REVISIONUSER}} <!-- don't change this line unless you're nominating another user -->
}}
::''Not ending before {{subst:#time:j F Y H:i|+5 days}} UTC''

The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than 5 days (with rare exceptions , no matter how obvious the result may seem). This is not a vote, and all input is welcome. Stewards will determine whether consensus exists; when doing so it is likely that the weight given to the input of those involved in cross-wiki work will be most influential.

Requests for global sysop permissions

[edit]
Please be sure to follow the instructions below:
Your request might be rejected if you don't follow the instructions, and not doing so would reflect poorly on your suitability.

 |user name = {{subst:REVISIONUSER}} <!-- don't change this line unless you're nominating another user -->
}}
:''Not ending before {{subst:#time:j F Y H:i|+2 week}} UTC''

The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than two weeks (no exceptions are allowed no matter how obvious the result may seem). This is not a vote, and all input is welcome. Stewards will determine whether consensus exists; when doing so it is likely that the weight given to the input of those involved in cross-wiki work will be most influential. Please note: Since 2019 all global sysops are required to have two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled.

:''Not ending before {{subst:#time:j F Y H:i|+2 week}} UTC''

The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than two weeks (no exceptions are allowed no matter how obvious the result may seem). While all input is welcome, there is a hard 80% support requirement for this role as per the global renamer policy.

Global rename for Svartava

[edit]
Not ending before 28 December 2024 10:38 UTC

Hi, I would like to apply for global renamer permissions. My languages are hi-N, en-4, sa-2, pra-1, fr-1. I have some basic understanding of other Indic languages like gu, mr, pa, bn, etc. due to interest in comparative historical linguistics and having enwiktionary as homewiki, which I think would be useful for this right when dealing with usernames. Thanks, – Svārtava (tɕ) 10:38, 14 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Changed to Neutral neutral because of your recent but withdrawn RfA, as SHB2000's and TenWhile's objections are relevant. I would definitely advise to slow down and to never hat collect for advanced permissions. However, you still have my moral support. Codename Noreste (talk) 19:09, 24 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Now changed one more time as a  weak support, on second thought. Please take my advice above seriously, but you still have my moral support and my vote. You are not punished by other users but scrutinized because of the withdrawn RfA. Remember to take it slow with the sysop experience you can gain on a content project. Thank you for voluteering on the Wikimedia movement. Codename Noreste (talk) 20:33, 25 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Global rename for Queen of Hearts

Hello, I am an enwiki admin and would like to be a global renamer to help respond to username unblock requests and Special:GlobalRenameQueue. I have read Global rename policy and relevant enwiki policies. I speak English and some Spanish; I will only be responding to enwiki requests. Thanks! Queen of Hearts (talk) 18:25, 14 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Global rename for Fathoms Below

[edit]
Not ending before 29 December 2024 17:27 UTC

Hi everyone, I'm an enwiki admin since February 2024, though I took a break for a few months and just returned to adminship recently. I'm involved some at UAA, and I think I could handle some unblocks at enwiki that involve renaming. I read the Global rename policy and have experience with enwiki's username policy. I speak en-N, es-2, and la-1. If anyone has concerns about my actions they can message me on my talk pages. I'll also ask around if I have any questions regarding a rename. Thanks, Fathoms Below (talk) 16:30, 15 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Global rename for Aopou

[edit]
Not ending before 1 January 2025 23:26 UTC

Hello, everyone. I am a Wikipedian contributing to the Spanish Wikipedia. My roles there include Rollbacker, Reviewer, Template Editor, and Rollbacker on Wikidata, among other local responsibilities. My native language is Spanish, and I have strong proficiency in English, French, Portuguese, Italian and Arabic. The purpose of my request is to broaden my involvement within Wikimedia Foundation projects, without necessarily limiting myself to being a local contributor on Wikipedia.

I am aware that many prefer candidates to have prior experience as sysops, but honestly, my local Wikipedia often judges users harshly during candidacies. We are losing more administrators due to poor management. Most candidacies fail to gain sufficient support and are often judged for minor mistakes, sometimes dating back years. This has been acknowledged by a former administrator of Spanish Wikipedia, who expressed similar concerns.

Additionally, I couldn’t participate in the local renaming process on my Wikipedia because the renamers there do not allow collaboration or responses—it is, unfortunately, a space controlled exclusively by them. For these reasons, I am submitting my request to collaborate more broadly and to contribute with my language skills to support the Wikimedia community. This text was modified on December 25, 2024 to make a clarification that may not have been understood in the answers. Aopou {discusión} 23:26, 18 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
