Featured Variable in FileInfo[edit]

Don't wikilink elements that go into the |featured variable because it messes up categorization. If the name of what you want in the |featured= variable is different from the actual link, use the variable |link= to do this. — itsjustatank (talk) 16:14, 18 October 2012 (KST)

Style Notes[edit]

Currency[edit]

For your reference, see also: List of active currencies and their abbreviations
  • Use either the symbol of a particular currency, or its shortening (in capitals), not both.
    • $100, or 100 USD, not $100 USD or usd $100
    • €100, or 100 EUR, not €100 eur or EUR €100
  • Currency abbreviations that come before the number are left unspaced if they consist of or end in a symbol (£123, €123), and spaced if alphabetic (R 75).
  • Do place a space between the currency symbol and its shortening
    • 75 USD not 75USD
  • Unless the rules for the currency symbol allow for it, do not place the currency symbol after the value.
    • $20 not 20 $ or 20$
    • £20 not 20 £ or 20£

Numbering[edit]

  • For all other numbering up to ten, use their corresponding English words.
    • By this time the Zerg should have three Queens
  • For numbers above ten, use numerals once again.
    • Don't try to be a hero against a group of 24 Marines.

Spelling[edit]

  • Single-elimination is one word (short for single-elimination tournament). Only capitalize it if it begins a sentence. Single Elimination, Single-Elimination, and single elimination are not correct forms of single-elimination.
  • This rule applies to double-elimination as well.

Whoops[edit]

Sorry, didn't realize power treads had two recipes. Are there any other items with two recipes so I can look out for them? Pullarius1 10:17, 19 November 2012 (KST)

LongDD leaving LGD[edit]

I don't see this news confirmed anywhere. There are no citations and there has not been any official word, I really don't think this should be shown on Liquipedia yet, it's all speculation.

Team Secret Changes[edit]

Neither does s4 play for Alliance nor Fly nor N0tail on Fnatic, but they're on that page as identifiers for what team they came from is what I assumed. Also, I'm trying to change around the role positions and it keeps getting undone... They're playing right now, Fly and Kuro are playing core, s4 offlane, Puppey / N0tail support... — gbrl (talk) 14:05, 27 August 2014 (EDT)

Oh OK I see what you mean. — gbrl (talk) 14:15, 27 August 2014 (EDT)

Doshi9[edit]

Hey, you moved Doshi9 to mainspace, saying he meets requirements:

Previous history: If the player was a pro-gamer in another game (Warcraft 3, StarCraft: Brood War...)
Achievements: If the player has earned at least 1,000 EUR in tournaments.
Sponsored: If the player is a notable member of a major team.
Strategies: If this player has made widely known strategies.

Which one does he meet? I'm moving it back for now.

> He indeed was and still is a notable member of Czech&Slovakian Dota2 scene, having this status already from times of Dota 1 (2011). He managed to finish top 2 in the biggest major local offline tournaments, winning the price-money I put up (+valuable hardware), but he also won numerous online tournaments on local level with a price-money to it, however I did not consider that as worth putting up on wiki. So I'd think that being top on the local (CZ/SK) scene would be enough to fulfil the requirements..? Let me know, thanks.

Thanks for the tool[edit]

Oh my god thank you so much, it was so much work, you just saved me LOTS of time Hey Tephus thanks a lot but it is not my page. it is the page of this user: https://liquipedia.net/starcraft2/User:Th3Ace. If it is possible then i would prefer if you can move it to his wright user.

Team Tinker Roster Change[edit]

SingSing confirmed Pajkatt wasn't a part of the team on stream, and he's no longer on the in-game Roster. But I understand these aren't official sources so feel free to leave it the way it is for now -13manaboy (talk) 13:09, 19 December, 2014 (EST)

Thanks![edit]

Hi Tephus,

Could you please delete the image for: trident esports I'm trying to re-create the 7 team items for it but the name has been taken.

Thanks!

Hello[edit]

Here is the official announcement of Zai and Arteezy joining secret.

https://www.facebook.com/TeamTopSecret/posts/847190498660317

Ah I see. That seems a bit unnecessary but I guess I will wait for an official announcement from EG before I edit it.

Done --Tephus (talk) 03:39, 19 June 2015 (KST)

Hi Tephus. Sorry about my unknowledge about the situation whit the photos (so the "stomanen1" (Dreamleague) photo was made via the twitch.tv broadcast and it dont figurate in the www.flickr.com so im not verry familiar whit the processes about it.On the otherhand "nikobaby" and "hawkeye" are given by them to dota 2 bulgaria in an interview. Mind_Control and Failetz photos are from there facebook. But unfortunately at this time i cant give you the names who made the photos cuz they are specifying them and it can take awhile. It wont be a problem if you take them down and when we can give you specification at next upload. (btw im new to teamliquid as a user/editor and i dont know how to add info on the added photos)

MVP Phoenix short handle[edit]

Please provide a source that confirms the short handle for MVP Phoenix is 'MVP.Phx' instead of 'MVP'. At the moment, in the game, the players play as MVP.kpii, MVP.QO, MVP.March, MVP.Febby and MVP.NutZ; not 'MVP.Phx.<insert ID here>'. Only Hot6ix have the additional tag 'H6ix', Phoenix doesn't have any. - MicroGamer (talk) 13:17, 30 July 2015 (KST)
You are correct, but if someone unfamiliar with that sees that MVP played a game they do not know which MVP it is, so we think it's clearer to use MVP.phx rather than just MVP. Elyvilon (talk) 13:22, 30 July 2015 (KST)

So adding this fictional 'Phx' tag... does it distinctively represent MVP Phoenix from Hot6ix? Yes. Accurately? Absolutely NO. This 'Phx' tag does not exist; and Phoenix is already distinguised from Hot6ix by the LACK of an additional tag aside from 'MVP'. You said a team's handle on this wiki should be 'accurate', and yet you invent an additional completely fictional tag for a team because apparently the lack of one makes it impossible to distinguish this team from another in the same organisation.
And for the record... neither Na`Vi, VG, Newbee nor other organisations with more than 2 teams get a fictional tag slapped on their official one for the purpose of 'distinction'. - MicroGamer (talk) 13:31, 30 July 2015 (KST)
While I understand your concern, I don't think that this makes the handle inaccurate. MVP.Phx, while perhaps not the "official" abbreviation of the team, is still an accurate short handle for MVP.Phoenix. The TeamShort template doesn't necessarily represent a shortened version used by the team, only a clear shortened version. In this case, we believe that one squad using only MVP while the other gets a suffix may be lost on people less familiar with the scene than you or I, especially when only looking quickly. I suspect the only reason Hot6 doesn't use just MVP in game is because Hot6ix is the name of a sponsor for that squad, while Phoenix is just a name. This leads into the examples you brought up. In each of those cases, there is a clear "main squad", which only ever goes by the same name as the organization, and a second (or even third for Newbee) squad. There is Na'Vi and Na'Vi North America, Vici Gaming and Vici Gaming Potential, Newbee and Newbee Young and Newbee Miracle. With MVP, there is no clear main squad, and no squad that is just "MVP". There are two main squads, each with its own name and logo which is distinct from the name of the organization. Basically, we don't think it's inaccurate to abbreviate MVP.Phoenix to MVP.Phx and it's definitely much clearer to the casual viewer.--Androxide (talk) 14:16, 30 July 2015 (KST)

bananas and monkeys[edit]

I have no idea, did we come to a consensus on IRC? I just wanted to get something down, it's not hard to change. Elyvilon (talk) 06:51, 28 August 2015 (KST)

We should be more consistent about Achievement paragraph of teams[edit]

Hi Tephus,

I cannot find any place to make an open discussion so I leave you a message here since you're one of the major contributors here. I think currently, the lists of "achievement" on different teams (and players, but most of player pages are just lack of updating) are VERY consistent. We do have a guideline about it, here: Liquipedia:How_to_Contribute#Achievements. But in reality, the picking of tournaments seems very arbitrary.

  • Let's take EG as an example: on their main page, only quite a few tournaments are listed. But according to the guideline , 10 tournaments out of 12 they earned in 2015 should be listed because they're all premier and they on top 4. It looks the rule here is arbitrarily set as "first place in premier tournaments plus top 3 in Valve's tournaments" here..
  • Let's check LGD_Gaming#Team_Achievements then. It almost lists everything, and the tier column is actually missing. It does have a complete result page (LGD_Gaming/Results), but it looks like the link is missing on the bottom of the achievement table on the main page so people can barely reach there.
  • Vici_Gaming#Team_Achievements: VG does has an complete result page listed on the bottom (Vici Gaming/Results), but people still list everything on their main page. Another thing I don't like here is that it sorted the results by "tier" first. To be honest to readers the tier defined by Liquipedia may not be obvious so people may feel hard to find certain result(s). It's better to sort by date IMO.

Let's stop here, I think you got the point. The reason I ask this question is because that I want to contribute but before I start I want to have a "standard" to follow, to avoid editing wars. I assume EG's page should be the most completed (since they're one of the best west team) but then I realized that even their page are not following the guideline. --Fireattack (talk) 05:48, 10 January 2016 (KST)

CDEC[edit]

Hi Tephus, I edited all the pages contained "cdec" as for "lgd.cdec", and "cdec" belongs to cdec gaming now! Haha, we won't have mistakes if forget the "2" then~wow. Steventcyh (talk) 05:11, 20 May 2016 (KST)

Hi, Tephus, I am confused about "break the templates", what does that mean? Steventcyh (talk) 21:07, 14 July 2016 (KST)

Matches tickets are the matches listed on the Main_Page, aren't they? If I am right, I do feel the same some times. But "Newbee" is not the problem, even "TongFu" or "Secret", they never break into two lines, however, "Newbee.Y" did. In several different fonts, "Newbee.Y" and its icon normally showed in two lines. Fortunately, Chrome can change the "Sans serif" font so I can make that slimmer and better, although I still wanna shorten it. Team name like "Mongolz" may need to be shorten too. If the matches tickets are not what I guess, please tell me what the real ones are ... Steventcyh (talk) 23:44, 15 July 2016 (KST)
I think we can just use MVP.P in Template:TeamShort/mvp phoenix and Template:Team2Short/mvp phoenix now. They are protected. Steventcyh (talk) 15:15, 19 July 2016 (KST)

Eh, I'm trying to make the change less now... By the way I have a question: Can a team change its name after registered in Dota2? like Mineski.Sports5 on dotabuff, I thought the name was fixed unless to register a new team. Am I wrong? Thank you.Steventcyh (talk) 10:37, 24 July 2016 (KST)

VP.Solo[edit]

Hi Tephus. Recently I have changed Solo's photo and his biography. You turned his old image back. Why, dude? Best regards, Kangu1337 (talk) 19:55 27 november 2016 (MSK)
