Meet Our Graduate Diversity Officer
The role of the Graduate Diversity Officer is to:
- Provide leadership to deans, faculty, academic programs, Academic Senate committees and administrative units to develop and implement recruitment and retention strategies that eliminate barriers for historically underrepresented graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.
- Advise, counsel, and advocate for historically underrepresented graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in order to enhance their success at UC Davis.
- Write or provide support of grant proposals for resources to administer programs that enhance diversity within graduate education.
Josephine Moreno, Ph.D.
Graduate Diversity Officer: Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (HASS) & Education
An alumna of UC Davis, Dr. Josephine Moreno is the Graduate Diversity Director for Humanities and Arts, Social Sciences (HASS) and Education. Josephine earned her B.S. from UC Davis and Ph.D. from Iowa State University. Following a postdoctoral year at UC Davis, she was also a faculty member at the University of Rhode Island. She comes to UC Davis from UC Berkeley where she was the Graduate Diversity Director in the Arts & Humanities Division. Josephine is committed to supporting first-generation and historically underrepresented students in higher education to successfully complete their graduate degrees at UC Davis.
