1. Precedes the comparative form of an adjective or an adverb.

   àrd - high

   na b' àirde - higher

   fuar - cold

   na b' fhuaire - colder

Usage notes

• Only used in the past tense and the conditional mood. In the present and future tenses, nas is used.
• Only used before vowels and words beginning with fh followed by a vowel, otherwise na bu is used.
