editפָּגַע • (pagá) (pa'al construction, passive counterpart נִפְגַּע)
- To hurt or injure (someone or something): to cause a wound or injury, or other damage.
- To meet.
- Tanach, Exodus 23:4, with translation of the Jewish Publication Society:
- כִּי תִפְגַּע שׁוֹר אֹיִבְךָ אוֹ חֲמֹרוֹ תֹּעֶה הָשֵׁב תְּשִׁיבֶנּוּ לוֹ
- If thou meet thine enemy's ox or his ass going astray, thou shalt surely bring it back to him again.
- To entreat, to intercede.
- Tanach, Genesis 23:8, with translation of the Jewish Publication Society:
- אִם יֵשׁ אֶת נַפְשְׁכֶם לִקְבֹּר אֶת מֵתִי מִלְּפָנַי שְׁמָעוּנִי וּפִגְעוּ לִי בְּעֶפְרוֹן בֶּן צֹחַר
- If it be your mind that I should bury my dead out of my sight, hear me, and entreat for me to Ephron the son of Zohar
