Template:2013 WWE pay-per-view events

edit

Can you explain why you felt the need to move the above article to 2014, and then recreate the original? — Richard BB 08:58, 26 November 2013 (UTC)   Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Template:2013 WWE pay-per-view events a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.Reply

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut-and-paste-move repair holding pen. Thank you. — Richard BB 08:59, 26 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Wrestling PPV template

edit
... professional wrestling matches that involved wrestlers from pre-existing scripted feuds, plots, and storylines played out on WWE's primary television programs, Raw and SmackDown. Wrestlers portrayed faces (heroes) or heels (villains) as they followed a series of events that built tension and culminated in a wrestling match or series of matches

Since pretty much every PPV article we have uses basically this same text I'm wondering if we should just make a template saying this? Ranze (talk) 06:00, 7 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Dashes

edit

Hi,

I have tried notifying you before in edit summary but apperently it does not work. Please do not keep inserting the incorrect dashes when insterting score like here. After you someone will always have to correct your edit like here. If you dont know how to do please ask or wait and someone else will update it in a few seconds (when match ends). You could also read WP:DASH and you find the dash next to "insert" below edit window. Also, sometimes I have seen match not even ended when you add info and you add incorect score (as in this case) and we are NOT to live update so please WAIT until match is finished. Thank you. QED237 (talk) 19:10, 18 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

And why are you removing correct dash and writing here? QED237 (talk) 19:29, 18 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
Come on now I told you about the dashes, do not do this. Your edits are getting more and more disruptive and you only block when other want to do correct edits (edit conflicts). QED237 (talk) 23:55, 18 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello. Your updates on the scores on NFL teams' schedules are appreciated. However, just to let you know, it would save other users time by using endashes, which are recommended over regular dashes (– instead of -). For example:

ArbCom elections are now open!

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Whitespace edits

Please do not perform edits that consist solely of changing invisible whitespace, like you did with a template at polonium. Adding or removing spaces between template arguments is a dummy edit which serves no purpose. On 18 April 2016, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article WWE Women's Championship (2016–present), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the WWE Women's Championship was created because female wrestlers felt that the former Divas Championship diminished them to "eye candy"? You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, WWE Women's Championship (2016–present)), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited WWE 2K17, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Booker T. Sourcing question

edit

Just curious, as I've noticed you do this on more than one occasion, why do you switch it around? The way I put it isn't incorrect, and it shows up the same in the references regardless of the order in the edit page. --JDC808 06:20, 8 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

No response? --JDC808 03:22, 16 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

You do know that in the work field, WWE.com is not incorrect. It's actually more correct than just WWE. Regardless of which one is used, it actually should be linked. Overlinking does not apply to sources. --JDC808 03:38, 21 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

NFL standings

edit

May I ask that you please keep a good eye on both the conference standings templates? Lately, I notice 2 IPs coming onto the NFC standings template and ignoring the hidden notice I placed. For example, they keep updating one team's record without updating the other, and furthermore, neither IP also updates that team's position. I've already sent the NFC table to RPP to combat this, but in case that fails, I need an extra eye on the table. Thanks! jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk • contribs) 22:15, 5 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Basketball season articles

edit

Thank you for your efforts creating these. Unfortunately some of them have been generating errors, which gets them added to Category:Pages with script errors. The errors are invisible on the page, but this is an important maintenance category that needs to be kept clear of articles.

The problem is templates like Template:2018–19 NBA Northwest standings; you can see a discussion about it here : Template talk:2018–19 NBA Northwest standings. For now I have removed that and another template from articles. You don’t need to do anything, just don’t be concerned if templates are disabled or removed until the problem is fixed. The problem might fix itself once the season starts and the templates have data to work with, so I would consider it not urgent until then.--JohnBlackburnewordsdeeds 18:58, 13 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Donnowin1: How many more of these are there to create? I have commented-out broken templates from quite a few, for example 2018–19 Sacramento Kings season. Any chance of working out what is going wrong in those templates and fixing it? Johnuniq (talk) 03:03, 16 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!

edit

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!

2020–21 San Antonio Spurs season moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, 2020–21 San Antonio Spurs season, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. noq (talk) 15:26, 16 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Game Books

edit

Hi mate, thanks for your continued vigilant edits to the NFL team season articles. Just a note, if you check out the NFL.com game recap pages (e.g. here), you'll see that "Game Book" should be spelled as two words. I note that the file names spell it as one word, but I think the way it is displayed on an actual page supersedes the name of a file. Let me know your thoughts. – PeeJay 00:02, 30 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hey, did you have any thoughts on this? – PeeJay 12:54, 3 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
Does it really matter if there is a space or not? Donnowin1 (talk) 19:16, 3 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
Well, for consistency's sake we should settle on one or the other, and I'm suggesting that it makes more sense to settle on the one that NFL.com uses. – PeeJay 22:15, 3 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
How should we settle it? Some people might use it as one word while other might use it as two words. Donnowin1 (talk) 14:37, 4 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
What people? Are you talking about other Wikipedia editors? As I pointed out, NFL.com calls them "Game Books", as does NFLCommunications.com (see here), so what difference does it make if other people call them "Gamebooks"? Those people are wrong. – PeeJay 15:49, 4 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

December 2020

edit

Your recent editing history at List of 2020–21 NBA season transactions shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Looking through the NFC tiebreakers, the template has Seattle over Green Bay on SOV. Way I see it, is Seattle over GB on common games record (4-0 v 3-1). But the real kicker is NFL.com shows Green Bay as the 2 seed and Seattle 3. Thoughts? LarryJeff (talk) 15:40, 5 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Information on extensively reported news by highly regarded league reporters

edit

Hey there, I see you've been editing for a very long time and totally appreciate how much effort you must have spent over the years to achieve such high edit totals. I too am a big sports fans, specifically the NBA, and I become very active on Wiki especially during the offseason to keep league info up to date while the active offseason unfolds in terms of roster changes and team updates. I have had many discussion with Wiki editors in the past of just when the right time to edit a page is after big news breaks. Without going into extensive detail, I feel as though with how fast news travels these days and with the impeccable reputations of some widely respected league reporters, namely Adrian Wojnarowski and Shams Charania, I feel as though it would truly be beneficial to NBA related pages to accept edits when news is broken this way. Frankly, it gets confusing for people who are less knowledgeable about some of Wiki's policies (in terms of when an edit should be made of "reported" news) which begins the counterproductive edit wars by two groups who both believe they are doing the right thing. Anyways, I just wanted to reach out to get your view on this subject. I'm no expert, but I do love staying on top of changes and keeping everything up to date for more casual followers of the league that rely on wiki for quick info, especially during busy off seasons. Feel free to read my proposal from two years ago that I hopefully linked correctly here. I also posted it to the NBA WikiProject page where it received a lot of attention, but mostly reiterating the same point to wait "official team announcement" which after reading my reasons, you can obviously tell I see as very counterproductive. I'm not wiki savvy enough to request an actual policy change, but I'd love to get your input after reading some of my thoughts. Thanks in advance! Hope to hear from you. AFC playoffs

edit

Good morning! In regards to my edit to Template:2022–23 NFL playoffs, which turned out to be a revert of your latest edit to the template, That divisional game the Chiefs are playing in will absolutely be played in KC. They will play the lowest seed remaining, so there's no way the Bills could possibly be their opponent before the Championship game. In other words, the NFL's decision about home field in the AFC this year, will not affect that game. --DB1729talk 14:03, 8 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

CS1 error on Vic Fangio

edit

Hello, I'm Qwerfjkl (bot). I have automatically detected that this edit performed by you, on the page Vic Fangio, may have introduced referencing errors. They are as follows:

  • A "bare URL and missing title" error. References show this error when they do not have a title. Please edit the article to add the appropriate title parameter to the reference. (Fix | Ask for help)

Please check this page and fix the errors highlighted. If you think this is a false positive, you can report it to my operator. Thanks, Qwerfjkl (bot) (talk) 06:10, 28 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

February 2024

edit

Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Thanks! — Red-tailed hawk (nest) 06:33, 12 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

The Acclaimed edit.

edit

Um, what is the issue with the edit I made? I placed the word 'and' between Castor & Bowens names. You're telling me that a comma is what should be there? Meanwhile, there are 2 other tag teams listed under the D.O.N. results that have 'and' between their names. Please explain your reverting of my edit.
