Ron Paul
editHow can you say with a straight face that Paul is not STRONGLY Pro-Life.
Defining LIFE to begin at conception would effectively outlaw this despicable killing nationwide.
Stop trying to make Paul into a libertarian first and a Chistian Conservative second. He is a honest man who has himself stated that these moral principle come before his views as a libertarian.
Ron Paul's Darfur policy
editI question your use of the word "non-interventionist" with respect to Paul's opposition to humanitarian aid for Darfur. I also question your motives with respect to equating this opposition, which took the form of Paul working against a Darfur aid bill in Congress, with an off-the-cuff answer to a question about military action in a hypothetical war over Taiwan. Your answer to my questioning this dubious equation is simple: remove from the main article all references to Paul's actions with respect to Darfur. You apparently would prefer that the facts on this issue not appear there. Why else would you have thrown the Taiwan "issue" into the article before removing the Darfur reference entirely. You see, a pattern to your edits emerges. You don't want Paul's true record on this issue in the main article, because you know that it is unpopular. So you first misstate it, then you delete it.
And if you really believe this issue doesn't merit attention, why did you believe that the Taiwan "issue" DID? Remember, on Darfur, Paul took actions in Congress on a real, and extremely important, issue. On Taiwan, a reporter happened to ask Paul a hypothetical question on a TV show. I believe that the Taiwan thing which you added DOESN'T merit inclusion, whereas the Darfur issue does.
Adam Holland 20:46, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
OK, but I'm just trying to figure out why the Taiwan thing got added in the first place. Ideas???
OK. Why do I believe Paul's Darfur policy is important enough for inclusion? Precisely for the issues that were fudged by your comparison to Taiwan: 1) The issue of "non interventionism" is central to Paul's campaign. Paul's actions with respect to Darfur go to his definition of "intervention" including humanitarian aid. This broad definition is interesting to those trying to parse out "non-interventionism" as opposed to isolationism and does not appear elsewhere in the article. 2) This deals with real world acts by Paul that could have prevented aid to millions of people in Sudan, were he successful. 3) The issue of Darfur, although under the radar now, would likely arise as a major issue should Paul be nominated, and WILL likely be an issue regardless (partially because of #4). AND 4) Senator Clinton played a huge role on the bill that Paul opposed, and is the front-runner for the Democratic nomination, as you must know. So this is an instance where they have already debated, as it were.
Enough reasons for inclusion? Is the fact that I'm not neutral about Darfur a disqualification from editing on the subject? That would be a sad distortion of objectivity, and would exclude most sentient beings who know about the subject. What's happening there is terrible, not "allegedly" terrible as you would have it. How can one be indifferent to such an important issue?
Adam Holland 21:25, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
In response to the above, you state that Paul opposes ALL foreign aid, and ask, why should Darfur merit special attention in the main article? I think that four answers to that question are posted above. What didn't you see there that you're looking for? You are avoiding my arguments for inclusion. Maybe we should move this discussion to the talk page for the article. I feel like I'm talking to myself here.
Adam Holland 22:09, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
Please address this issue on the talk page of the Paul article. By the way, I don't really want to debate in this forum the issue of Darfur aid, I just want Paul's opposition mentioned.
AfD nomination of Ron Paul controversies

Ron Paul
editOh, no problem. I appreciate that you contacted me instead of reverting again. I just wanted to organize the article. I also noticed that Wikipedia had the main page for his political views and a forked page for his views in more detail (which was basically the same for the main issues). If you want to follow the example of other candidates' pages and give a brief summary for Ron Paul's main page and then direct to the political position page I don't mind. Please just dont change the other stuff I did.
thanks,
Ron Paul#Poltical positions
editI'm okay with it being collapsed to a single paragraph, since there is a much longer main article. I'm kind of neutral about that; I don't think it is really too long as-is. Either way is fine with me. BenB4 20:16, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
Automatic weapons
editPlease review Paul's Q&A session at Google, at time 14:40-16:00, where he was asked about machine guns, and clearly said, "automatic," not semiautomatic. ←BenB4 19:51, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

Current version of article lead-in
editDo you have any opinion on the inclusion of "he voted against gay adoption" and other such unsupported statements in the lead of the Ron Paul article? I reverted it twice and BenB4 has accused me of campaigning rather than simply including important information and excluding unsupported statements. (I don't think any political positins should appear in those paragraphs, but if they do, I think only important ones where he has unequivocally stated what his position is and which can be supported by reliable sources should be included.)--Gloriamarie 22:51, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

Conflation of indoor arena and stadium in Hangzhou
editHi there. It looks like with the naming of this image and its description, Image:Hangzhou-yellow-dragon-stad.jpg, and your creation and information you put in Yellow Dragon Stadium, you conflated two different objects, and this confusion has propagated now to other articles. According to these sources: [1] and [2], there is a 2003-built indoor arena for 8,000 people called Yellow Dragon Stadium (黄龙体育中心, Address: Shuguang Rd./Huanglong Rd. 曙光路/黄龙路), as well as a 2000-built outdoor football (soccer) stadium for 60,000 people called Hangzhou Stadium (杭州市体育馆, Address: Hangzhou Stadium, Tiyuchang Road 体育场路杭州市体育馆(浙江日报社旁边), both part of a Hangzhou Dragon Sports Centre.
Your article Yellow Dragon Stadium conflates financial information and seating capacity (until someone else's recent edit of seating capacity) for both stadia and uses your image of the outdoor stadium. The FIFA.com page about the venue of the ongoing FIFA Women's World Cup 2007 in soccer [3] calls it "Hangzhou Dragon Stadium" and depicts the object you named Yellow Dragon Stadium - this is where the date 2000 appears.
Finally, the indoor arena named Yellow Dragon Stadium is pictured here on its openning day in November 2003: [4]. You used this link as a reference in Yellow Dragon Stadium for the quoted cost figure. It pictures a clearly different structure than the one whose picture you uploaded, and the description mentions its use for ice skating. Perhaps the name used here is a mistake?
Frankly, I'm not sure what the best way to fix this is, because while tracking this down I uncovered a lot of mentions of Yellow Dragon Stadium in the context of the football venue, and a dearth of mentions of the indoor venue, save for the two references quoted above. Perhaps we should create separate articles for the football stadium and the indoor arena, or at least unconflate the information in the present article and mention the indoor arena along with the outdoor stadium. Best Wishes, --Mareklug talk 20:32, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
P.s. I found this recent (28 July 2007) blog entry, where the author mentions Yellow Dragon Stadium and Yellow Dragon Gymnasium next door: [5]. Also, the gymnasium is marked as object no. 2 on this map of the Dragon Sports Centre made when the Centre was proposed, and in the description, the gymansium is described as seating 7,000 people and being intended among others for figure ice skating competitions: [6]. I supposed the actually built arena was made to seat 8,000. Therefore, perhaps the article for the indoor arena should be called Yellow Dragon Gymnasium? And that's where the reference link for the cost (with the picture of the indoor arena opening) should go, as well as the info about seating 8,000 people and being opened in 2003? Also, this hotel page describes the nearby "Zhejiang Provincial Yellow Dragon Gym, both a physical centre and cultural centre where art and literary activities are held.": [7]. --Mareklug talk 21:37, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

New Sauk Rapids Bridge
editHi, I made a few changed to New Sauk Rapids Bridge. I added in the costs of the bridge itself ($20.46 million), and I added a paragraph on the scope of the project. Being a road construction buff, I had saved newspaper articles regarding the bridge project since it began.
In the paragraph I added, I tried paraphrasing an article from when the project was just starting that stated: The project is believed to be the first transportation-induced relocation of its scale in the nation. State and federal officials are watching. If all goes well, it may set a precedent for how major downtown transportation projects are handled.
You can fix it around if I what I've added is relevant to the article, since I'm relatively new to editing Wikipedia articles.

editThanks for uploading Image:Ronpaulsignature.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Replaceable fair use Image:Lifelinkiiisch.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Lifelinkiiisch.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add

, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Missing information
editAttention. Someone who is able to edit on Kentucky Fried Chicken needs to add about their adding grilled chicken to the menu as a way to lure health-conscious consumers back to the store, because it is important. Don't give me any of "It's a lie." Go to KFC.com. The main page will show. You don't have to respond to me if you don't want, but somebody has to add the information I mentioned down. editThe article LifeLink III has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Healthplazaaerial.jpg
editThank you for uploading File:Healthplazaaerial.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.
If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Angus McLellan (Talk) 15:13, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
The article David Ratowitz has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. --Darkwind (talk) 02:54, 19 April 2010 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
