High $P_{t}$ and jets / Jacob, Maurice René Michel (CERN)
Recent developments in the field of high-p/sub T/ hadronic interactions are reviewed. They mainly refer to the jet structure of reactions with high-p/sub T/ secondaries and to the properties of hadronic jets. [...]

Detailed quantum-chromodynamic predictions for high-p/sub T/ processes / Owens, J F ; Glück, M ; Reya, E
High-p/sub T/ single-particle inclusive cross section calculations are presented for the CERN ISR and ISABELLE energy ranges, taking into account all lowest-order hard-scattering subprocesses required by quantum chromodynamics (QCD). The input quark and gluon distribution and fragmentation functions were determined from analyses of deep- inelastic lepton data and were subject to various theoretical constraints such as sum rules and SU(3) symmetry. Hadronic high p/sub T/ production : can one experimentally disentangle the QCD subprocesses / Fischer, H G (CERN)
It is shown how high p/sub tau / production off protons can be used to study the relevant hard subprocesses. In particular, single particle triggers over a wide range of scattering angles are useful in order to separate out single scattering amplitudes. [...]

High-P/sub T/ hadron cross-section at new collider energies / Muraki, Y (CERN)
The Drell-Yan lepton pair production process induced by hadron-hadron collisions and described by simple parton model predictions is similar to the quark-antiquark annihilation mechanism for high-p/sub T/ hadron production. The only differences are the coupling constant and the fragmentation process of the quark pair into hadrons. [...]

A clear test of perturbative QCD in large-p/sub T/ photoproduction / Fontannaz, M ; Mantrach, A ; Pire, B ; Schiff, D
It is shown that measurement of the cross-section differences Ed sigma /d/sup 3/p( gamma p to h/sup +/X)-Ed sigma /d/sup 3/p( gamma p to h /sup -/X) at large transverse momentum provides a good test of perturbative QCD. Such differences are insensitive to the parton Fermi motion and to the poorly known sea-quark and gluon distribution functions. [...]

Systematic study of high $p_{T}$ hadron spectra in pp, pA, and AA collisions at ultrarelativistic energies / Wang Xin Nian
High-p/sub T/ particle spectra in p+p (p+p), p+A, and A+B collisions are calculated in a parton model with QCD-inspired hard scattering and evolution in which intrinsic transverse momentum, its broadening due to initial multiple parton scattering, and jet quenching due to parton energy loss inside a dense medium are included phenomenologically. The intrinsic k/sub T/ and its broadening in p+A and A+B collisions due to initial multiple parton scattering are found to be very important at low energies ( square root s<50 GeV). [...]

Applications of perturbative QCD to hard scattering processes / Sachrajda, Christopher T C (CERN)
The author presents a survey of the ideas and techniques necessary to apply QCD to hard scattering processes. A brief review of light-cone techniques was given and corrections to asymptotic predictions of QCD for deep inelastic structure functions were discussed. [...]

Trigger bias in large p/sub T/ reactions / Jacob, Maurice René Michel ; Landshoff, Peter V
How particle multiplicities in large transverse momentum reactions are affected by the way in which the detection apparatus is triggered is studied. It is predicted that the multiplicity of particles accompanying a large p/sub T/ hadron is increased when it is required that there be a second large p/sub T/ hadron in the opposite hemisphere. [...]
