SU(3) as gauge group of the vectorlike weak and electromagnetic interactions / Fritzsch, Harald ; Minkowski, P
A scheme of the weak and electromagnetic interactions based on the group SU(3) as well as on six quark flavours and eight leptons is presented. Several aspects of the weak interactions are discussed, in particular the presence of new right-handed currents, the neutral current, the generation of the Cabibbo angle, and the dominant non- leptonic weak interaction. The price of natural flavour conservation in neutral weak interactions / Chanowitz, M S ; Ellis, Jonathan Richard ; Gaillard, Mary Katherin
The natural conservation of flavours in neutral weak interactions severely constrains choices of gauge groups and their fermion representations. In the absence of exactly conserved quantum numbers other than charge, and of mod Delta Q mod >or=2 charged currents, essentially the only weak and electromagnetic gauge groups whose neutral interactions naturally conserve all flavours are SU(2)/sub L /(X)U(1) and SU(2)/sub L/(X)(U(1))/sup 2/.
