The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) experiments will collect unprecedented data volumes in the next Physics run, with high pile-up collisions resulting in events that require a complex processing. Hence, the collaborations have been required to update their Computing Models to optimize the use of the available resources and control the growth of resources, in the midst of widespread funding restrictions, without penalizing any of the Physics objectives. Multicore job scheduling in the Worldwide LHC Computing Grid / Forti, A (Manchester U.) ; Yzquierdo, A P (PIC, Bellaterra ; Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Hartmann, T (KIT, Karlsruhe, SCC) ; Alef, M (KIT, Karlsruhe, SCC) ; Lahiff, A (Rutherford) ; Templon, J (NIKHEF, Amsterdam) ; Pra, S Dal (INFN, CNAF) ; Gila, M (Zurich, ETH-CSCS/SCSC) ; Skipsey, S (Glasgow U.) ; Acosta-Silva, C (PIC, Bellaterra ; Barcelona, IFAE) et al.
After the successful first run of the LHC, data taking is scheduled to restart in Summer 2015 with experimental conditions leading to increased data volumes and event complexity. In order to process the data generated in such scenario and exploit the multicore architectures of current CPUs, the LHC experiments have developed parallelized software for data reconstruction and simulation. New hard-TeV extreme blazars detected with the MAGIC telescopes / MAGIC Collaboration
Extreme high-frequency peaked BL Lac objects (EHBLs) are blazars which exhibit extremely energetic synchrotron emission. They also feature non-thermal gamma-ray emission whose peak lies in the very high-energy (VHE, E > 100 GeV) range, and in some sources exceeds 1TeV: this is the case of hard-TeV EHBLs such as 1ES 0229+200. The LHC Tier1 at PIC: experience from first LHC run / Flix, J (Madrid, CIEMAT ; PIC, Bellaterra) ; Perez-Calero Yzquierdo, A (Madrid, CIEMAT ; PIC, Bellaterra) ; Acción, E (Barcelona, IFAE ; PIC, Bellaterra) ; Acin, V (Barcelona, IFAE ; PIC, Bellaterra) ; Acosta, C (Barcelona, IFAE ; PIC, Bellaterra) ; Bernabeu, G (Madrid, CIEMAT ; PIC, Bellaterra) ; Bria, A (Barcelona, IFAE ; PIC, Bellaterra) ; Casals, J (Madrid, CIEMAT ; PIC, Bellaterra) ; Caubet, M (Madrid, CIEMAT ; PIC, Bellaterra) ; Cruz, R (Barcelona, IFAE ; PIC, Bellaterra) et al.
This paper summarizes the operational experience of the Tier1 computer center at Port d’Informació Científica (PIC) supporting the commissioning and first run (Run1) of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The evolution of the experiment computing models resulting from the higher amounts of data expected after the restart of the LHC are also described..

A search for dark matter in Triangulum II with the MAGIC telescopes / MAGIC Collaboration
We present the first results from very-high-energy observations of the dwarf spheroidal satellite candidate Triangulum II with the MAGIC telescopes from 62.4 hours of good-quality data taken between August 2016 and August 2017. We find no gamma-ray excess in the direction of Triangulum II, and upper limits on both the differential and integral gamma-ray flux are presented. [...]

Bounds on Lorentz invariance violation from MAGIC observation of GRB 190114C / MAGIC Collaboration
On January 14, 2019, the Major Atmospheric Gamma Imaging Cherenkov telescopes detected GRB 190114C above 0.2 TeV, recording the most energetic photons ever observed from a gamma-ray burst. We use this unique observation to probe an energy dependence of the speed of light in vacuo for photons as predicted by several quantum gravity models. [...]

In order to increase its discovery potential, the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) accelerator will be upgraded in the next decade. The high luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) period demands new sensor technologies to cope with increasing radiation fluences and particle rates. [...]

Lightweight site federation for CMS support / Acosta-Silva, C (PIC, Bellaterra ; Barcelona, IFAE) ; Peris, A Delgado (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Flix, J (PIC, Bellaterra ; Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Guerrero, J M (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Hernández, J M (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Yzquierdo, A Pérez-Calero (PIC, Bellaterra ; Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Calonge, F J Rodriguez (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Gómez-Pulgar, J (Madrid, CIEMAT) /CMS Collaboration
There is a general trend in WLCG towards the federation of resources, aiming for increased simplicity, efficiency, flexibility, and availability. Although general VO-agnostic federation of resources between two independent and autonomous resource centres may prove arduous, a considerable amount of flexibility in resource sharing can be achieved in the context of a single WLCG VO, with a relatively simple approach. Combined searches for dark matter in dwarf spheroidal galaxies observed with the MAGIC telescopes, including new data from Coma Berenices and Draco / MAGIC Collaboration
Milky Way dwarf spheroidal galaxies (dSphs) are among the best candidates to search for signals of dark matter annihilation with Imaging Atmospheric Cherenkov Telescopes, given their high mass-to-light ratios and the fact that they are free of astrophysical gamma-ray emitting sources. Since 2011, MAGIC has performed a multi-year observation program in search for Weakly Interacting Massive Particles (WIMPs) in dSphs. [...]

The ATLAS Forward Proton (AFP) detector is designed to identify events in which one or two protons emerge intact from the LHC collisions. AFP will consist of a tracking detector, to measure the momentum of the protons, and a time of flight system to reduce the background from multiple proton-proton interactions. [...]
